Dialyzer systems can consolidate multiple technologies and functionalities of blood treatment systems in a significantly integrated fashion. For example, this disclosure describes dialyzer systems that include a magnetically driven and magnetically levitating pump rotor integrated into the dialyzer. Such a dialyzer can be used with treatment modules that include a magnetic field-generating pump drive unit. In some embodiments, the dialyzers include pressure sensor chambers with flexible membranes with which corresponding pressure transducers of the treatment modules can interface to detect arterial and/or venous pressures.

Blood treatment systems

A medical system, usable for example in connection with a dialysis apparatus, may utilize radar waves for monitoring a patient, a medical area, or an object. The medical system includes at least one sending device for sending radar waves, and at least one receiving device for receiving reflected radar waves. The medical system further includes an evaluation unit for evaluating the reflected radar waves which have been received by the at least one receiving device, resulting in obtaining a result, and an output device for outputting the result or a signal based on the result.

This disclosure relates to a method for determining a fluid balance between a first volume flow in a first section of a fluid circuit and a second volume flow of a second section of the fluid circuit. The method may also include adjusting, assuming or detecting a first temperature in the first section of the fluid circuit and a second temperature in the second section of the fluid circuit, or detecting a temperature difference between the first and the second sections. The method may also include detecting a second volume flow in a second section of the fluid circuit and forming a balance from at least the first volume flow and a corrected value of the second volume flow. Displacement pump for medical liquids, blood treatment device, and method for controlling same

A device for extracorporeal blood treatment and a method for operating an extracorporeal blood treatment device provide for an ultrafiltrate pump of an ultrafiltration apparatus to be operated in a first and second operating mode. The ultrafiltrate pump is operated in the first operating mode in such a way that the pressure on the blood-side of the semipermeable membrane is higher than the pressure on the dialysate-side of the semipermeable membrane of a dialyser, so that during the first operating mode a predetermined amount of fluid is removed from an extracorporeal blood circuit via the semipermeable membrane of the dialyser. In the second operating mode, the ultrafiltrate pump is operated in such a way that the pressure on the blood-side of the semipermeable membrane is, at successive intervals, alternately higher and lower than the pressure on the dialysate-side of the semipermeable membrane of the dialyser, so that fluid is continuously removed from and supplied to the extracorporeal blood circuit via the semipermeable membrane (push/pull mode). Additional components, in particular a separate push/pull pump, are not required for operation of the blood treatment device in push/pull mode. This results in both lower dimensions and lower weight. Operation in push/pull mode can increase the service life of the dialyser and the clearance of the dialysis treatment can also be increased for certain substances.

An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus having a fluid system and a pump for conveying fluid in the fluid system, wherein the pump is a non-occluding pump, and a method for shutting off or reducing the speed of rotation of a non-occluding pump in a fluid system of an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus. The apparatus and the method are characterized in that before the speed of rotation is reduced or the pump is shut off, the fluid flow into the feed line and out of the discharge line is first interrupted, and after a predetermined time interval after interruption of the fluid flow has elapsed, the speed of rotation of the pump is reduced or the pump is shut off. The time-delayed shut-off of the pump prevents a reverse flow of fluid, particularly of blood into the arterial blood line, even in the absence of occlusion. As a result of the time-delayed shut-off or reduction in the speed of rotation of the pump, however, an excess pressure is produced in the fluid system. Therefore the blood treatment apparatus and the method provide for counter-measures to prevent uncontrolled fluid flow when the shut-off elements are opened, due to the excess pressure.
