A device for converting a rotational motion of a valve element into a translational motion of same having a valve element bearing-supported such that it is translationally movable along a translation axis, a cam element with a cam curvature. The cam element is rotatable about an axis of rotation, wherein connected with the valve element is a stem by means of which the valve element can be moved translationally along the translation axis and which comprises an engagement element in engagement with the cam curvature. The engagement element is braced from two sides of the cam element by the stem, and wherein, by rotation of the cam element about the axis of rotation, the engagement element is guided along the cam curvature such that the stem executes a translational motion whereby the valve element executes a translational motion.

An actuator for a lever that is connected, with a valve or a wastegate or a variable turbine geometry of an exhaust gas turbocharger. The actuator includes a connecting rod between a drive and the lever. The connecting rod is rotatably supported at a location some distance from the lever. The connecting rod is further guided between the support and the lever on a circular arc.

An actuator has a rotary drive and a threaded element for converting the rotary motion of the rotary drive into a reciprocating motion of a tappet connected to a hinged wastegate and/or to a variable turbine geometry device of an exhaust gas turbocharger. The tappet and/or an axle between the tappet and the threaded element is received in at least one guide comprising at least one web and allowing for at least a slight tilting or pivoting movement of the tappet in at least one direction. An exhaust gas recirculation system having at least one cooler with a housing and at least one valve with a pivotably actuated valve member on an inlet side is characterized in that an actuator for the valve is mounted to the housing of the cooler, which is connected to the valve via at least one lever and at least one connection member such as a coupling rod, a ball-and-socket joint being provided between at least one lever and at least one connection member such as a coupling rod.

An exhaust gas recirculation valve comprises a drive, at least one rotatable drive element and at least one translationally drivable driven element. The drive element comprises a thread element that is configured to convert rotational motion of the drive element into translation of the driven element. A rotational axis of the drive element is inclined with respect to a translational axis of the driven element.
