An articulated spindle () which is arranged in particular in a drive of a rolling mill, comprises a coupling sleeve for establishing a connection to an articulated head, or an articulated head () for establishing a connection to a coupling sleeve (), wherein the tongue () of the coupling sleeve () engages with a cylindrical opening () of the articulated head () that is located transverse to the rotational axis. A sliding block () is arranged between the articulated head and the tongue (), said block being formed by two sliding bodies (), which have rotational body contours () in two portions, said sliding bodies being arranged rotatably in a rotational body-shaped recess () adjusted to the shape of the sliding bodies () such that they can perform a pivoting motion in the articulated head (). The articulated spindle () is characterized in that the rotational body contours () are designed to be concave or convex and the recess () is designed to be accordingly convex or concave.

A torque support for a converter tilting drive mounted on a shaft journal. The supports are provided on the gear housing that accommodates the shaft journal to be driven. The supports support the gear housing on the structure carrying the converter. To this end, the supports are embodied in each case as dual action hydraulic piston-cylinder units that are independently anchored on the structure in an articulated manner.

Torque support for a converter tilting drive

The invention relates to a converter gearing, comprising a gear rim (), which is connected to the pivoting axis () of a converter box, said gear rim being engaged with at least one drive pinion () of the converter gearing () and at least one locking device, which can be pivoted to engage with and be disengaged from the toothed gearing of the gear rim, () in the form of a locking arm () that is positioned on a horizontal shaft () and configured with toothed gearing (). The aim of the invention is to improve said locking device. To achieve this, the shaft () of the locking arm () is mounted in at least one terminal bearing (') and the locking arm () can be engaged with and disengaged from the toothed gearing of the gear rim () in a non-positive manner, preferably by means of active force elements (14, 14&#x2032;) in its end regions. In addition, the shaft () of the locking arm () is mounted in the housing of the converter gearing () by means of two eccentric bushes (), which rotate freely within one another, at each of its ends. The mounting is configured in such a way, that by the independent rotation of the same, an ideal mutual engagement position of the two interacting toothed gearing regions of the locking device () and the gear rim () can be set.

In a method for operating a converter (), in which the converter () is mounted in a carrying ring () by means of carrying journals (), a gear mechanism () is mounted in a floating manner on the carrying journals (), the converter () is configured, as a result, such that it can tilt about its horizontal axis and the gear mechanism () is connected rigidly to a pedestal () by a torque support (), the torque support () connects the gear mechanism () to the pedestal () during the tilting operation of the converter (), and the torque support () is released from the pedestal () or from the gear mechanism () or from both during operation of the converter ().

Method for operating a converter

In the case of a drive arrangement for a rolling mill, comprising at least one drive motor (M), a main gear mechanism (HG), a pinion gear mechanism (KWG), a rolling stand (G) with working rolls (AW), and the spindles, couplings and the like which connect these components, the main gear mechanism (HG) is a single-stage one and the drive axis (AN) is spaced apart from the output axis (AB) by an upwardly directed, vertical spacing (vA).
