A method of sensing touch on a touch surface of a touch structure includes: transmitting, from within an enclosed interior volume, an ultra-sonic transmit signal towards an inner surface of the touch structure that is arranged counter to the touch surface; receiving, from within the enclosed interior volume, an ultra-sonic reflected signal produced from the ultra-sonic transmit signal being reflected by the inner surface; acquiring a plurality of digital samples from the ultra-sonic reflected signal; calculating an Euclidean distance of the plurality of digital samples to a first plurality of reference samples; and determining whether a no-touch event or a touch event has occurred at the touch surface based on the Euclidean distance.

Robust touch sensing via ultra-sonic sensors

A sensor device contains at least one sensor chip having at least one MEMS structure arranged at a main surface of the at least one sensor chip, wherein the at least one sensor chip is configured to transmit ultrasonic signals and/or to receive ultrasonic signals. A system for estimating a tire load of a tire includes a pressure sensor configured to generate a tire pressure signal; an acceleration sensor configured to generate a tire acceleration signal; a temperature sensor configured to generate a tire temperature signal; and at least one processor configured to calculate a duration of a contact patch based on the tire acceleration signal, calculate a vehicle speed based on the tire acceleration signal, determine at least one system model coefficient based on the tire pressure signal and the tire temperature signal, and calculate the tire load of the tire using a linear system model that relates tire pressure, the duration of the contact patch, and the vehicle speed to the tire load of the tire, where the linear system model further includes the at least one system model coefficient for calculating the tire load of the tire.

Sensor and method for determining operating states associated with one or more tires. The operating state of the tire can be determined based on one or more measures environmental conditions of the tire(s). For example, a controller can be configured to determine a change in one or more environmental conditions, including determining, for example, a rate-of-change value, a variance value, a standard deviation, or the like. The rate-of-change, variance, and/or standard deviation values can be compared to one or more threshold values to determine the operating state(s) associated with the tire(s). The environmental condition can include, for example, acceleration of the tire, pressure of the tire, and/or temperature of the tire. The operating state can be, for example, a filling state indicative of the tire being inflating, and/or a drive state indicative of the tire rotating about its axle.

A receiver for a light detection and ranging system includes detecting elements, each configured to convert light into an analog detection signal. The receiver includes a first converting element configured to provide a first digital detection signal in response to a first analog detection signal. The first converting element is configured to use a first number of bits to represent the first analog detection signal. The receiver includes a second converting element configured to provide a second digital detection signal. The second converting element is configured to use a second number of bits to represent the second analog detection signal. The second number of bits is greater than the first number of bits. The receiver comprises a processing module configured to determine a first parameter of an object using the first digital detection signal and a second parameter of the object using the second digital detection signal.

LIDAR system, a method for a LIDAR system and a receiver for LIDAR system having first and second converting elements

A method for determining malfunction is provided. The method includes receiving a 1D or 2D luminance image of a scene from a time-of-flight based 3D-camera. The luminance image includes one or more pixels representing intensities of background light received by an image sensor of the 3D-camera. The method further includes receiving a 2D optical image of the scene from an optical 2D-camera and comparing the luminance image to the optical image. If the luminance image does not match the optical image, the method additionally includes determining malfunction of one of the 3D-camera and the 2D-camera.

The present disclosure relates to a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensor comprising a detector configured to generate a first detector signal at a first delay time following an emission of a first light pulse and to generate at least one second detector signal at the first delay time following an emission of at least a second light pulse; and a processor configured to generate a combined signal for the first delay time based on a combination of the first detector signal and the at least one second detector signal. Depending on the type of combination, the combined signal can be used for interference detection or mitigation.

A pressure sensor is configured to monitor a first resistance value of a first resistor and a second resistance value of a second resistor. The first resistor and the second resistor are configured to be sensing elements of a sensing component of a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is configured to determine, based on a difference between the first resistance value and the second resistance value satisfying a threshold, that a measurement from the sensing component is unreliable. The pressure sensor is configured to perform, based on determining that the measurement from the sensing component is unreliable, an action associated with the pressure sensor.

A contamination detector device may compute a cross-sensitivity of a pressure sensor based on an amount of pressure change sensed by the pressure sensor and an amount of acceleration change sensed by an acceleration sensor. The cross-sensitivity of the pressure sensor indicates a measure of sensitivity of the pressure sensor to acceleration. The contamination detector device may determine, based on the cross-sensitivity of the pressure sensor, whether the pressure sensor is contaminated. The contamination detector device may selectively perform a contamination action based on whether the pressure sensor is contaminated.
