A method improves antenna matching for a node, in particular a sensor apparatus and/or actuator apparatus, of a communications network. The node is capable of radio communication and has a radio module equipped with an antenna and a transmit path and/or receive path for radio signals to be emitted and/or received. The node has a power supply apparatus, which is preferably energy self-sufficient, in particular a battery. The antenna has an impedance and in the receive situation and/or in the transmit situation in the case of adjustable matchings, preferably by use of adjustable matching networks, the signal to noise ratio associated with each matching is estimated, and a matching is selected from the different matchings for the receive mode and/or the transmit mode.

A method detects the surroundings of a node, in particular in the form of a sensor apparatus and/or actuator apparatus, of a communications network. The node is capable of unidirectional or bidirectional radio communication and has a radio module equipped with an antenna, a transmit path and/or receive path, and a power supply apparatus, which is preferably energy self-sufficient, in particular a battery. The surroundings are detected, preferably at repeated time intervals, on the basis of an estimate of the detuning of the antenna of the radio module.

An active link is established between meter and wireless communication module to send the meter data and/or time-critical data from the meter to the wireless communication module. First advertising events are sent to initiate establishing communication for transmitting the meter data, and second advertising events are sent to initiate establishing communication for transmitting the time-critical data.

Method for wireless transmission of time-critical data, in particular alarm data, from a battery-operated meter

A meter network includes a meter configuration having a meter, a communication module, and a remote station for the configuration in a wide area network. The meter and communication module are pairable for a wireless local area communication by using communication technology and communication protocol. The communication module and remote station are connectable for a wide area communication by using network technology and network protocol. The communication module includes a protocol converter for converting data to be communicated via the local area communication, communication module and wide area communication between the communication technology and network technology and between the communication protocol and network protocol. A method for operating the meter network pairs the meter and communication module, connects the communication module and remote station, and uses the protocol converter to convert data between the local area communication technology and network technology and between the communication protocol and network protocol.
