Provided is a method for monitoring a change of ion strength in a sample solution by a closed-loop device that provides continuous cycling of electrochemical pH modulation between pre-defined pH values. In particular, the change of ion strength may be induced by a chemical reaction and may ultimately alter the electrical control parameters of the closed-loop device. By measuring such electrical control parameters, the degree and progress of the underlying chemical reaction may be monitored.

Measuring ion strength using closed-loop electrochemical ph modulation

Device and methods for controlling pH or ionic gradient comprising a multisite array of feedback electrode sets comprising electrodes and pH sensing elements. The electrodes can include a reference electrode, counter electrode, and a working electrode. The device and methods iteratively select an amount of current and/or voltage to be applied to each working electrode, apply the selected amount of current and/or voltage to each working electrode to change pH of a solution close to the working electrode, and measure the signal output of the sensing element. The multisite array can include feedback and non-feedback electrode sets.

The present disclosure relates to systems, devices, and methods for nucleic acid sequencing including polynucleotide strands having a nucleotide(s) modified with a redox label(s) attached thereto or capable of receiving the modified nucleotide(s) with a redox label(s) attached thereto. The systems, devices, and methods include a dielectric member with an attached translocating protein positioned between oxidizing and reducing electrodes. The oxidizing and reducing electrodes generate an electrical field extending to a reaction area where the translocation of the polynucleotide strand through the protein occurs such the modified nucleotide(s) with redox label(s) attached thereto are identified by changes in current flow in the oxidizing and reducing electrodes, wherein the changes identify electron transfer from the reducing electrode, to redox label, and to oxidizing electrode when the modified nucleotide with a redox label covalently bonded to the nucleoside base of the modified nucleotide of the polynucleotide strand is at the reaction area.

Edge sequencing with an immobilized translocator

A phase-shifter for a light-transmitting waveguide is segmented into multiple segments that can be calibrated to the overall length of a conventional single phase-shifter. Each segment receives a control signal, which can be a single bit signal, with the phase-shift capability of the segmented phase-shifter controlled by which segment(s) receive(s) a control signal. In one implementation, a binary weighting is applied to determine segment lengths. Smaller segments can be increased in length to achieve a 2&#x3c0; offset of the phase shift produced by the segment while maintaining the same binary relationship among segments. In another embodiment, multiple segments of uniform lengths can be used for a single phase-shifter with each segment controlled by an n-bit signal.

Segmented digital to optical phase-shift converter

Closed-loop systems and methods for controlling pH. The system includes a working electrode, a counter electrode, a reference electrode, a first ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET), a second ISFET, and an electronic controller. The working electrode, the counter electrode, the reference electrode, and a first sensing terminal of the first ISFET are immersible in an active solution. A second sensing terminal of the second ISFET is immersible in a reference solution. The electronic controller is configured to apply a first amount of current or voltage to the working electrode and determine a differential voltage between the first ISFET and the second ISFET. The electronic controller is also configured to set a second amount of current or voltage to reduce a difference between the differential voltage and a target voltage. The electronic controller is further configured to apply the second amount of current or voltage to the working electrode.

A boost converter includes a clock generator, a switching converter, a hysteretic controller, and a power tracking module. The clock generator configured to output a clock signal; The switching converter configured to operate at a frequency based on the clock signal. The hysteretic controller configured to regulate an intermediate output from the switching converter. The power tracking module configured to change a frequency control signal that is sent to the clock generator, the change in frequency is based on a current flowing into an output capacitor such that a charge time of the capacitor is minimized when the current is maximized.

An imaging system for low-power and low data-rate applications is provided. The imaging system comprises a pixel array having a plurality of photosensitive elements (pixels) divided into a plurality of groups of photosensitive elements (super pixels). An image processor is operably connected to the pixel array and configured to selectively operate each group of photosensitive elements in either (i) a high resolution mode in which the pixel array outputs readout voltages corresponding to all of the photosensitive elements in the respective group of photosensitive elements or (ii) a low resolution mode in which the pixel array outputs readout voltages corresponding to only a subset of the photosensitive elements in the respective group of photosensitive elements. Groups of photosensitive elements corresponding to detected motion in each image frame are operated in the high resolution mode, while the remaining groups of photosensitive elements are operated in the low resolution mode.

A sensor system includes a pixel array, a DC/DC converter, and a photodiode stack. The pixel array is configured to operate in an image capturing mode or an energy harvesting mode. The DC/DC converter is configured to convert energy captured by the pixel array while in energy harvesting mode. Successive sampling device and associated method

A 3D camera uses a modulated visible light source for depth imaging and includes a processor operable to perform time multiplexing between image detection and depth or time-of-flight (ToF) detection using the same photodetectors. The camera can alternate between the image detection mode and the ToF detection mode to produce a continuous stream of color and depth images that can be overlaid without the need for any post-processing software. A system and method of quantitating the concentration of a molecule of interest in one embodiment includes establishing a plurality of test environments at a plurality of test sites, each of the plurality of test environments associated with one of a plurality of response curves, each of the plurality of response curves different from the other of the plurality of response curves, storing a combined response curve resulting from a summation of the plurality of response curves, exposing the plurality of test sites to a sample having a concentration of a molecule of interest, obtaining a plurality of quantitation signals, each of the plurality of quantitation signals associated with one of the plurality of test sites, associating a summation of the plurality of quantitation signals with the stored combined response curve, and generating a signal related to the concentration of the molecule of interest based upon the association.

A device to electrochemically sequence DNA that includes a redox species includes at least one edge electrode, at least one stack of insulator material, and a pair of DNA translocation electrodes including a DNA translocation working electrode and a DNA translocation counter electrode, where the thickness of the at least one edge electrode is about 0.5 nanometers, and the thickness of the at least one stack of insulator material is about 10 nanometers. Methods of electrochemically sequencing a strand of DNA are also provided.
