An apparatus for producing and further processing slabs of a metal, preferably steel, comprises: a continuous casting apparatus, which is designed to produce at least one cast strand and to transport it in a transport direction; a cutting device, which is arranged behind the continuous casting apparatus, as seen in the transport direction, and is designed to cut the cast strand into slabs; at least a first route and a second route, which implement, at least in some portions, different process lines for the further processing of the slabs; and a process control system, which is designed to make a route decision on a slab-specific basis as a function of at least one measured or calculated process parameter, which route decision assigns one of the plurality of routes to the respective slab, and to initiate the further processing of the corresponding slab along the assigned route.

Apparatus and method for producing and further processing of slabs

A method for producing an ultra-thin strip of less than 0.8 mm from cast steel in batch/continuous operation with a casting-rolling system. The method includes casting a thin slab having a casting thickness of 90-150 mm and width of at least 1000 mm at a casting speed of 7 m/min. The thin slab is heated/homogenized to a first temperature in a continuous furnace and subsequently rolled by at least seven final roll stands into an ultra-thin band. Neither the thin slab nor strip undergo inductive heating during production. The thin slab rolling steps include rough rolling the thin slab at the heated/homogenized first temperature by a roughing stand; heating/homogenizing the rough-rolled thin slab to a second temperature by a further continuous furnace; and finally rolling the rough-rolled thin slab at the second temperature to the ultra-thin strip by the final roll stands arranged downstream of the further continuous furnace.

Casting-rolling system for batch and continuous operation

In the case of a production plant which comprises in series a thin-slab continuous casting plant (), which is arranged upstream of a roller hearth furnace (), the roller hearth furnace () and a rolling mill (), which is arranged downstream of the roller hearth furnace () and has an assigned reeling plant (), wherein the continuous casting plant () and the rolling mill () can be operated in a continuous operating mode, the intention is to provide a solution that allows a slab buffer capacity to be provided for a continuously operated thin slab continuous casting plant when there is a fault causing a standstill in the transport of the slab or strip. This is achieved by the production plant having four slab or strip cutting devices (), which are arranged upstream and downstream of the roller hearth furnace (), in a section along the length of the roller hearth furnace () and on the outlet side of a first separate roll line () of the rolling mill ().

Continuously operable production plant and method for operating the production plant when there is a fault

The present invention relates to methods for diagnosing, staging and treating cancer, in particular melanoma. In particular, the present invention provides methods for determining the stage/type of a cancerous disease, comprising detecting somatic alterations of the DNA of one or more disseminated cancer cells (DCCs), obtained after homing to a distant organ, such as lymph node; and determining the somatic evolution of the DCC(s) based on the detected somatic alterations, wherein the somatic evolution is indicative of the stage/type of the cancerous disease.

Means and methods for staging, typing and treating a cancerous disease

A method for producing a metal strip in a cast-rolling installation, the cast-rolling installation includes the following: a casting machine, a first furnace, a first shear, a roughing train, a second furnace, a second shear, a finishing train, a cooling section, a reeling system, and a third shear. The invention relates to a novel method of error-free sequencing of DNA. Further, the present invention provides for a four-part oligonucleotide, comprising a fixed sequence, a randomized sequence, a restriction nuclease recognition site and/or restriction site, and a primer binding site. The invention also relates to the use of the sequenced DNA fragments obtained by the methods of the invention in methods for DNA sequence analysis, generation of cell lineage trees or assessment of copy numbers.

Method for producing a metal strip by casting and rolling

A method for hot rolling a metal strip or metal sheet, wherein 1.a) the slab or the strip or sheet is subjected in a first step to one or more reshaping actions in a hot rolling mill for producing a uniform, fine, recrystallised austenite structure and 2) the slab or the strip or sheet is then subjected in a second step to cooling for producing a fine-grain structure. The slab or the strip or sheet is subjected to heating between at least two roll stands of the hot rolling mill during performance of the step 1.a). The roll stands are arranged to follow one another in a rolling direction and in each of which the slab or the strip or sheet is subjected to reshaping. A heater for heating the rolling stock is arranged between at least two of the roll stands.

Method for hot rolling a metal slab, strip or sheet

The invention relates to a method of flying changing of working rolls in continuous casting and rolling installations and hot strip rolling mills, in particular in continuous hot strip rolling mills, wherein for exchange of working rolls by opening a rolling stand, those are disengaged from a to be rolled hot strip. The invention relates to a method and a system for the production of hot-rolled strip silicon-alloy steel for further processing into grain-oriented sheets, such as electrical sheets, wherein a cast product, in this case a thin slab, for example, with a maximum thickness of 120 mm, is subjected to thermal pretreatment and to a subsequent rolling process on a hot-rolling line to set a desired recrystallization state.
