A method for controlling or regulating the temperature of a steel strip in hot forming in a hot strip mill. A superordinate open-loop or closed-loop controller has a process model that predetermines the temperature development of the hot strip. The target values of the individual units are adjusted based on this predetermined temperature development.

Method for the open-loop or closed-loop control of the temperature of a steel strip during hot working in a hot strip mill

A method for controlling a cooling device which is set up to control temperature of a rolling stock such as a metal strip, which runs through a cooling device along a conveying direction of a rolling train. The cooling device is arranged upstream of the rolling train. The method includes determining total enthalpy of a system formed by the rolling stock; determining a measure for the formation of scale, which includes a scale factor that depends on chemical composition and surface temperature of the rolling stock, and a heat transfer coefficient of the scale; calculating a temperature distribution and/or average temperature in the rolling stock based on a temperature calculation model, in which the determined total enthalpy and the measure for the formation of scale are included; and setting a cooling capacity of the cooling device taking into account the calculated temperature distribution and/or average temperature in the rolling stock.

Method for controlling a cooling device in a rolling train

A method for operating a system of the iron and steel industry for producing a metal product with participation of a severing or forming device. The actual value of an indicator be calculated over a length section of the metal product for the metal product to be produced. The indicator represents the resistance of the metal product to severing or forming processes. The calculated actual value pfor the indicator p is then compared to a predefined threshold value. The severing or forming also only actually takes place when the actual value of the indicator of the metal product is less than the threshold value. If a comparison should show that the actual value of the indicator is greater than the threshold value, before the severing or forming of the metal product, a local processing of the metal product is performed in the corresponding length section.

Method for operating a system of the iron and steel industry

A method for producing a metallic strip or sheet, in which the strip or sheet is rolled in a multi-stand rolling mill and is discharged downstream of the last roll stand of the rolling mill in a conveying direction. The strip or sheet is cooled in the multi-stand rolling mill and/or downstream of the rolling mill as viewed in the conveying direction, wherein a temperature of the strip or sheet is measured upstream of the last roll stand of the rolling mill as viewed in conveying direction. Based on this measured temperature, a temperature for the strip or sheet at the exit of the last roll stand of the rolling mill is then determined by calculation with the aid of a temperature calculation model, with which further temperature processes of the manufacturing method can be controlled or regulated after a comparison with a predetermined reference value.

Process for the production of a metallic strip or sheet

A method for setting different cooling rates of metal strips or metal plates (rolling material) over the strip width of a cooling stretch in a hot-strip mill or heavy-plate mill is presented. According to the method, for the calculation of the cooling rate, the initial enthalpy distribution over the material width of the rolling material before the cooling is determined. Proceeding therefrom, a target enthalpy distribution is determined in the width direction and length direction of the rolling material while taking into account a calculation of the flatness and the mechanical properties by means of a microstructure model. Subsequently, the coolant amount and the coolant curve of the cooling stretch are set.

Method for setting different cooling curves of rolling material over the strip width of a cooling stretch in a hot-strip mill or heavy-plate mill

A method for open-loop and/or closed-loop control of a heating of a cast or rolled metal product, includes the steps of determining the total enthalpy of the metal product from a sum of the free molar enthalpies (Gibbs energy) of all phases and/or phase fractions currently present in the metal product; determining a temperature distribution within the metal product by means of a dynamic temperature calculation model using the total enthalpy determined; and open-loop and/or closed-loop controlling of the heating of the metal product as a function of at least one output variable of the temperature calculation model.

Method and system for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of a heating of a cast or rolled metal product

A cooling device for cooling a metallic item and a method for operating the cooling device. Such cooling devices having a plurality of cooling bars arranged in parallel in groups for applying a coolant to the metallic item are known in the prior art. In order to be able to set a desired distribution function of the coolant over the width of the metallic item as precisely as possible, the cooling device provides that similar application regions in at least two cooling bars within a group are each formed differently with respect to their contour and/or with respect to their surface area.

Cooling device and method for operating same

A device and a method for cooling metal strips or sheets conveyed on a conveyor line, in particular hot-rolled strips in the outlet of a rolling train. For these purposes, the device includes at least one cooling beam extending across the width of the conveyor line, and the cooling beam features a connection point to which a supply tube for cooling liquid can be connected, and a number of discharge openings arranged along a longitudinal axis of the cooling beam, such that cooling liquid can be discharged through the discharge openings in the direction of the metal strip or sheet that is to be cooled. Associated with each of the individual discharge openings is a respectively adjusted flow area, such that the flow areas of the respective discharge openings decrease in a direction leading away from the connecting point along the longitudinal axis of the cooling beam.
