A method, network node and wireless device for network guided wireless device (WD) cell reselection are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes obtaining an indication of a set of parameters of a plurality of sets of parameters, the parameters in a set including at least one index and at least one priority, the index used to configure the WD to select a frequency priority based at least in part on the index. The method further includes selecting one of a network slice, frequency and service, based at least in part on the index and included in the set of parameters.

Method for network-guided WD cell reselection

A wireless device () receives, over an access stratum (), a capability enquiry () that requests the wireless device () to transmit capability information () indicating one or more capabilities of the wireless device (). After receiving the capability enquiry (), the wireless device () generates a token () using one or more input parameters () and transmits the token (). The one or more input parameters () include at least some part of the capability enquiry () and/or at least some of the capability information (). In some embodiments, the token () is generated or transmitted based on a non-access stratum security context () at the wireless device (). The wireless device () also transmits the capability information () over the access stratum ().

Protecting capability information transfer in a wireless communication network

Embodiments include methods performed by a radio access network (RAN) node of a wireless communication system. Such methods include receiving, from a wireless device via a cell, a request to resume an RRC connected state with the wireless communication network. The request includes a cause indicator that indicates mobility signaling as a cause for resuming the RRC connected state. Such methods include, based on the cause indicator, requesting an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the wireless communication system to perform a tracking area update (TAU) for the wireless device. Such methods include receiving from the AMF an indication that the TAU for the wireless device is complete and in response to the received indication, initiating an access-stratum (AS) procedure for the wireless device. Other embodiments include complementary methods for AMFs as well as RAN node and AMFs configured to perform such methods.

Indicating RAN notification area update (RNAU) in RRC_INACTIVE state

According to certain embodiments, a method in a wireless device comprises detecting system information broadcast from a network node. The system information comprises a list of Non-Public Network (NPN) identifiers identifying a plurality of NPNs. The method comprises selecting a network from the plurality of NPNs and determining an index value associated with the selected network. When the NPN identifier associated with the selected network comprises a Closed Access Group (CAG) identifier, determining the index value is based at least partially on Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) elements included in combination with at least one CAG identifier in the list of NPN identifiers. When the NPN identifier associated with the selected network comprises a Network Identifier (NID), determining the index value is based at least partially on a number of NIDs included in the list of NPN identifiers.

Method for broadcast and index generation in UE

A method, UE, and computer programs are provided where the UE has multiple universal subscriber identity modules. Information is received from a first PLMN indicating there is one of mobile terminating (MT) signaling or data in the first PLMN while the UE is in a second PLMN. Responsive to receiving the information, a service request is sent to an AMF node of the second PLMN. A radio resource control (RRC) connection release is received from a RAN node in response to sending the service request. Responsive to receiving the RRC connection release, the second PLMN is left to be in the first PLMN.

Graceful leaving procedure for multiple USIM UE

Systems and methods are disclosed herein related simultaneous registration of wireless communication device having multiple Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) with two or more networks. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device having multiple SIMs comprises registering with a first network associated with a first SIM and registering with a second network associated with a second SIM such that the wireless communication device is simultaneously registered with both the first network and the second network. The method further comprises providing, to a network node associated with the first network, capability information for the wireless communication device that indicates less than full capabilities of the wireless communication device. In this manner, the wireless communication device ensures that it will have sufficient resources to maintain simultaneous connections to both the first and second network.

Multi-SIM dynamic capabilities

Embodiments include methods for a network node of a 3GPP RAN. Such methods include determining a configuration that enables a UE to steer the UE's traffic between the 3GPP RAN and a WLAN without receiving a traffic steering command from the 3GPP RAN. The configuration includes a forward traffic steering configuration comprising a first plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to 3GPP RAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from 3GPP RAN to WLAN; and a backward traffic steering configuration comprising a second plurality of thresholds/conditions for which the UE, when connected to WLAN, can initiate steering at least some of the UE's traffic from WLAN to 3GPP RAN. The backward traffic steering configuration includes threshold(s)/condition(s) based on different values of a same parameter as threshold(s)/condition(s) of the forward traffic steering configuration. The configuration is sent to the UE in a single message.

Traffic steering from a first access network to a second access network

A wireless device according to one or more embodiments receives a request from a base station for capability information, with the wireless device transmitting the capability information in segments, responsive to the request indicating that the base station supports a protocol that utilizes segmentation for reporting the capability information. A base station according to one or more embodiments transmits a request for capability information to a wireless device. The request indicates the base station supports a protocol utilizing segmentation for reporting the capability information and the base station receives the capability information in segments, as transmitted by the wireless device.

Methods and apparatus for transmitting capability information

Systems, methods, and apparatus for handling communications relating to suspending a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) are disclosed. An example method includes the user equipment receiving a radio resource control (RRC) release message from a network node. The user equipment determines that the RRC release message includes a suspend configuration field. The user equipment applies delta signalling corresponding to a suspend configuration indicated by the suspend configuration field and transitions to an inactive state.

Release cause for transition from connected state

A method for decoding PLMN information comprises receiving a message comprising PLMN information for a plurality of cells and determining PLMN information from the message for a first group of cells that comprises at least one cell, each cell of the first group of cells associated with a first core network type. The method further comprises determining PLMN information from the message for a second group of cells that comprises at least one cell, each cell of the second group of cells associated with a second core network type. At least one cell is a part of the first group of cells and the second group of cells. The PLMN information for the at least one cell in the first group of cells and the second group of cells is provided only once.

Efficient PLMN encoding for 5G

A method performed by a UE having multiple USIMs is provided. The method includes registering the UE in a first PLMN. The method includes moving the UE into a CM-connected state in the first PLMN. The method includes setting up a PDU session in the first PLMN. The method includes using a DNS, via the PDU session in the first PLMN, to select a N3IWF in a second PLMN. The method includes accessing the N3IWF via IP connectivity provided by the first PLMN and initiating a registration procedure with an AMF node in the second PLMN using the N3IWF, the UE indicating that the AMF node shall only use N3IFW for NAS notifications after registration. The method includes completing the registration procedure to register with the second PLMN. The method includes setting up a PDU session with a SMF node in the second PLMN without user plane resources.

Mobile terminating information delivery for mulitple USIM UE

The disclosure provides a method performed by a wireless device for providing capability information. The method comprises: receiving a first message from a base station, the first message comprising an indication of a capability filter; utilizing the capability filter to generate a filtered set of capabilities of the wireless device; applying a hash function to the filtered set of capabilities to generate a hash value; and transmitting a second message to the base station, the second message comprising the hash value.

Methods, apparatus and computer-readable mediums relating to capability reporting in a wireless network

A method performed by a network node, for handling User Equipment, UE, capabilities of a UE in a wireless communications network is provided. The network node sends () to the AMF node (), a first indication indicating whether or not the network node () has capabilities to store UE capabilities associated with the UE capability ID. The network node receives () from an AMF node, a second indication indicating whether or not UE capabilities associated with a capability identity of the UE, UE capability ID, are UE available in the AMF node. The network node decides () whether explicit UE capabilities associated with the UE capability ID shall be retrieved from the UE or the AMF node based on the received first and second indication.

Signaling of radio capability information between a radio node and an access and mobility management function AMF node

Methods performed by base stations and wireless devices for controlling the transmission and reception of capability information are disclosed. A method performed by a wireless device includes: receiving an indication of one or more protocols that are supported by the network for transmission of capability information; responsive to the wireless device supporting at least one of the one or more protocols for transmission of capability information, selecting a first protocol that is supported by the wireless device from the at least one of the one or more protocols, and transmitting capability information associated with the wireless device to the base station according to the first protocol. A method performed by a base station includes: initiating transmission of an indication of one or more protocols that are supported by the network for transmission of capability information; and responsive to the wireless device supporting at least one of the one or more protocols, receiving capability information associated with the wireless device according to a first protocol of the one or more protocols. Also disclosed are base stations and wireless devices configured to perform the methods.

According to some embodiments, a method performed by a network node of incrementally obtaining wireless device capability information comprises: receiving a context setup request for a wireless device from an access and mobility management function (AMF); determining the context setup request does not include device capability information relevant to the network node; transmitting a device capability enquiry to the wireless device; receiving a user UE-ModelId from the wireless device; determining the network node does not have stored device capability information associated with the UE-ModelId; transmitting a device capability enquiry that include a capability filter to the wireless device; receiving a subset of device capabilities identified by the first capability filter from the wireless device; and updating stored device capability information associated with the UE-ModelId with the subset of device capabilities.
