Intelligent management of stub files in hierarchical storage is provided by: in response to identifying a file to migrate from a file system to offline storage, providing metadata for the file to a machine learning engine; receiving a stub profile for the file from the machine learning engine that indicates an offset from a beginning of the file and a length from the offset for previewing the file; and migrating the portion of the file from the file system to an offline storage based on the stub profile. In some embodiments this further comprises: monitoring file system operations; in response to detecting a read operation of the portion of the file: determining a file type; providing file data to the machine learning engine; and performing a supervised learning operation based on the file type and the file data to update the machine learning engine.

Intelligent management of stub files in hierarchical storage

In an approach for optimizing resources in a disaster recovery cleanup process, processors are configured for receiving transaction entries represented by transaction identifiers at a source database in communication with target databases via Synchronous-to-Asynchronous Traffic Converters (SATCs). Further, the processors are configured for transmitting a transaction payload from the SATCs to the target databases; identifying completed tracking entries corresponding to tracking entries having a complete status for the SATCs; deleting remaining transaction entries ranging from a transaction entry associated with a highest processed transaction identifier to a transaction entry associated with a lowest processed transaction identifier; providing a list of the remaining transaction entries that were deleted to predecessors of the SATCs; removing the remaining transaction entries from the SATCs if the transaction entries were delivered to all target databases; and detecting a topology change corresponding to one or more additional SATCs integrated with the one or more SATCs.

A method to securely collect diagnostic information from an IT product is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes contacting, by an IT product, an external service provider. Upon contacting the external service provider, the IT product checks a database of the external service provider to determine if diagnostic information associated with the IT product needs to be collected. If diagnostic information needs to be collected, an authorization request is sent to an administrator of the IT product. If the authorization request is approved, the IT product collects the diagnostic information and transmits the diagnostic information to the external service provider. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

A method, computer system, and a computer program product for restricting and anonymizing a graphical user interface for a remote access session is provided. The present invention may include determining a plurality of appropriate permissions for the graphical user interface of a client computer for fixing a problem. A system for providing dynamic handling of call home data includes an event detection module that detects one or more events in the operation of one or more components. The system may also include a data request module that requests call home instructions from an upload data manager in response to the detected one or more events. The system may further include a call home transmission module that collects call home data based on the call home instructions and provides the collected data to an upload server.

Dynamic handling of callhome data

A mechanism is provided for destaging one or more data files in a volatile memory using a set of heat registers associated with each data file. Responsive to receiving a notification indicating that free space within the volatile memory has fallen below a predetermined threshold, a rule is implemented, based on values associated with the set of heat registers assigned to each data file, to identify a data file to move to a non-volatile memory, where the set of heat registers comprises a content heat register, an access heat register, and a metadata heat register. The data file is moved to the nonvolatile memory. Responsive to determining that the free space fails to have risen above the predetermined threshold, the operations are repeated until the free space rises above the predetermined threshold at which time the set of heat registers assigned to the data files that were moved are deassigned.

An embodiment of the invention may include a method, computer program product, and system for data management. The embodiment may include receiving a login token and instruction from a user device. The login token is associated with a user of the user device. The instruction may be reading or writing profile data belonging to the user. The embodiment may include determining whether a user profile container exists for the user based on the received login token. The embodiment may include creating the user profile container for the user based on determining that the user profile container does not exist. Creating the user profile container for the user may include identifying profile data belonging to the user located in a plurality of locations within a file system and storing identified profile data belonging to the user within a single binary large object. The embodiment may include executing the received instruction.

Protocol based user data management

Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for management of transactions from a source node to a target node through intermediary nodes in a replication environment. A first tracking entry represents a transaction to transfer data from the source node to the target node that is received from a predecessor node in a first topology comprising one of the source node and the intermediary nodes to transmit to a first successor node and forwarded to the target node. A second topology is received including indication of a change to the first topology by including a second successor node not in the first topology. A second tracking entry is created for the transaction received from the predecessor node to send to the second successor node in response to data for the transaction having not yet been delivered to the target node.

A remote-access session is initiated. A first command for execution on the customer system is received via the remote-access session. A first unit of data generated in response to executing the first command is identified. It is determined that providing the first unit of data to a remote-access support system complies with the system management policy. The first unit of data is provided to the remote-access support system via the remote-access session.

Security and privacy controls for remote-access support services

A data stream is stored in storage media. As part of the storage, the data stream is divided into a plurality of chunks. The plurality of chunks include a target chunk that is next to a first chunk in a file within the data stream. A determination is made that the target chunk matches an existing chunk stored in the storage media. In response to the determination, a first pointer to the existing stored chunk is created in file metadata for the file. Also in response to the determination, a second pointer to a first stored chunk that matches the first chunk is created in chunk metadata embedded with the existing stored chunk.

Metadata recovery for de-duplicated data

A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for data integrity and acceleration in compressed storage environments in combination with software defined native redundant array of independent disks (RAID). The mechanism receives a data portion to write to storage and divides the data portion into a plurality of chunks. The mechanism performs real-time compression on a given chunk within the plurality of chunks and determines a compression rate for the given chunk. The mechanism determines a RAID level for the given chunk based on a value of the compression rate and stores the given chunk based on the determined RAID level.
