A majority decision can be carried out in the microprocessors,or,if the signal of one sensor is lacking, wherein it can also be determined which of the energy sources,or,has failed.

Fail-safe brake system

A method for adjusting or altering the play between brake linings and friction surfaces of motor vehicle brakes by means of controllable and adjustable lifting and return movements of the brake linings is disclosed. In this case, the play is altered as a function of the actuation of the gas pedal, such that the play is reduced if the pressure exerted on the gas pedal is reduced and/or if the gas pedal is released. The device for adjusting or altering the play between brake linings and friction surfaces of motor vehicle brakes contains a brake control/brake regulator (,) for acquiring and processing electronic signals delivered by a brake pedal sensor (,) and, if so required, other sensors, and for actuating electromechanical brake actuators (,). The brake control/brake regulator (,) of the device also processes data or signals pertaining to the status of the gas pedal actuation in such a way that the brake actuators (,) reduce the play if the pressure exerted on the gas pedal is reduced and/or if the gas pedal is released.

Method and device for adjusting or altering the play between brake linings and friction surfaces of motor vehicle brakes

The invention relates to an electric brake system for a motor vehicle wherein each wheel of the vehicle includes a brake actuator (,) assigned thereto. The invention also relates to a brake actuator for an electric brake system. During a braking operation, the brake linings (,and,) are pressed against the brake disc (,) with a pregiven braking force by a braking-force device (,) of the brake actuator (,). At least one of the brake actuators (,) includes a sensor with which an elastic deformation of the braking-force device (,) or the brake yoke (,) is measured. This elastic deformation occurs during a braking operation. The braking force is determined from the measured elastic deformation and this braking force is then available for the control of the brake system.

Electric brake system for a motor vehicle

The invention relates to an electric brake system for a motor vehicle and a method for operating the same. In conventional electric brake systems, the energy consumers (6, 8a, 10a, 14b, 16b, 30a, 30b) are connected to the voltage source (24a, 24b) when a switch-on signal is applied. This has the problem associated therewith that, when the switch-on signal is absent for any particular reason, the energy consumers (6, 8a, 10a, 14b, 16b, 30a, 30b) can be disconnected from the voltage source (24a, 24b) during operation of the motor vehicle. This problem is avoided in that the energy consumers (6, 8a, 10a, 14b, 16b, 30a, 30b) remain connected to the voltage source independently of the presence of the switch-on signal. A disconnection of the voltage source from the energy consumers (6, 8a, 10a, 14b, 16b, 30a, 30b) is only triggered by the computer unit (6, 30a, 30b) by driving an ignition-switch device 28.

Electric brake system and method for operating the same

A process and device for starting a motor vehicle having a braking system in which a brake force is at least partially supplied by at least brake energy storage devices. Prior to starting a motor vehicle, the vehicle is initially switched into a non-drivable state in which the vehicle is disabled from movement. A charging state of each brake energy storage device may be checked to ensure an adequate charging state. If the charging state of at least one of the brake energy storage devices is greater than or equal to a predetermined minimum charging state, the vehicle may be switched into a drivable state and, thus, operable by the driver.

The invention relates to a method for providing controlled braking of a motor vehicle and a brake system for carrying out the method. The brake system includes a central unit and brake actuators for each wheel of the motor vehicle. The brake actuators are connected to the central unit. In the central unit, a relative braking-force distribution key is computed at time intervals and is transmitted to the brake actuators. With a braking operation, the absolute braking force for the braking operation is computed in each brake actuator from the corresponding component of the relative braking-force distribution key.

Method for controlled braking of a motor vehicle

An electrical brake system for a motor vehicle is provided that may include an integrated electrical auxiliary brake. The wheel brakes of the brake system may be actuated via brake application devices. The invention is directed to an electrically/electronically controllable braking system including: a brake actuating device 6, at least two brake circuits (2, 4) and two processors (8a, 8b; 10a, 10b) for each brake circuit (2, 4) for driving the actuators (12a to 12d) and for the control of further functions such as slip control functions. The processors (8a, 8b) of the rear brake control are joined in a rear brake control apparatus 16 and the processors (10a, 10b) of the front wheel brake control are joined in a front brake control apparatus 18. The allocations of the functions of the electric control apparatus for both brake circuits are optimized especially while considering reliability. The brake actuating device 6 outputs its actuating function via signal lines 7 to all processors (8a, 8b; 10a, 10b). In order to do with a minimal number of processors, the processors (8a, 8b) of the rear axis circuit 4 assume additional functions (14a, 14b) of the overall vehicle control, such as ABS reference speed formation, driving dynamic control, et cetera. Preferably, the highly-integrated processors (8a, 8b) at the rear axis are operatively connected to each other via line 20 for the purpose of mutual control and switchoff in the event of a fault.

Electrically controllable brake system

The invention is directed to a brake actuator (2) having a transmission including an electric motor (6) as a drive element, a converting device for converting the rotational movement of the electric motor (6) into a linear movement and a hydraulic transmission (16, 18, 20) for transmitting the linear movement of the converting device to a friction lining (22) of a brake. The brake actuator of the invention does not require a mechanical transmission connected between the motor and the hydraulic transmission. This is achieved with a converting device configured as a spindle unit (12, 14) and is realized in that the spindle nut (12) is fixedly connected to the electric motor (6) and the spindle rod (14) is fixedly connected to a first hydraulic piston (16) of the hydraulic transmission (16, 18, 20). The electric motor is provided with a hollow shaft (10) for accommodating the displacement stroke of the spindle rod.
