Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine. In one example embodiment, the cylinder head includes at least one spark plug having at least one earth electrode, a precombustion chamber accommodating the at least one spark plug, and a fuel channel which leads into the precombustion chamber. The fuel channel having a flow axis at an outlet that is oriented in the direction of the at least one earth electrode. An axis of rotation of the at least one spark plug has an offset with respect to the flow axis between 0 and 15% of the greatest precombustion chamber diameter.

Cylinder head for an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a cooling system () for an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder head (), the at least one cylinder head being connected to at least one cylinder block () by means of a cylinder-bead sealing surface (). The cooling system comprises at least one first cooling jacket () arranged in the cylinder head (), the at least one first cooling jacket having a flow connection to at least one coolant inlet () and at least one first coolant outlet (), and at least one second cooling jacket () arranged in the cylinder block (), the at least one second cooling jacket being connected to at least one second coolant outlet () in the cylinder head (), wherein the first cooling jacket () and the second cooling jacket () are connected to each other by means of at least one connection flow path (), which preferably extends through an opening () in the cylinder-bead sealing surface (), and a liquid coolant can flow through the first cooling jacket and the second cooling jacket in succession, and wherein the coolant flow through the second cooling jacket () can be controlled by means of at least one first valve (), preferably a thermostat valve, which blocks the coolant flow through the second cooling jacket () in a first valve position and allows the coolant flow through the second cooling jacket in at least one second valve position. In order to enable quick heating of the coolant while achieving optimal cooling of the internal combustion engine, flow through the first cooling jacket () according to the invention is possible in a transverse direction of the internal combustion engine.

Cooling system for an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a cylinder head () for an internal combustion engine having liquid cooling, comprising at least two outlet valves for controlling outlet openings () and at least one inlet valve for controlling at least one inlet opening () per cylinder (), having at least one cooling jacket () through which coolant flows. An outlet valve bridge () is arranged between two adjacent outlet valves and an inlet/outlet valve bridge () is arranged in each case between at least one outlet valve and an adjacent inlet valve. A first cooling channel () is arranged in the region of at least one outlet valve bridge (), and a second cooling channel () is arranged in the region of at least one inlet/outlet valve bridge (), and the first and second cooling channels () are fluidically connected to one other in a central cooling region () of the cylinder () with one another. According to the invention, in order to improve the cooling in the region of the inlet/outlet valve bridges and in the region of the outlet valve guides, at least one second cooling channel () has a flow dividing arrangement () which sub-divides the second cooling channel () into a first part-channel () and a second part-channel (), wherein preferably the first part-channel () is arranged in the region of an outlet valve guide () and the second part-channel () is arranged in the region of an outlet valve seat () of the adjacent outlet valve.

The invention relates to a cylinder head () for an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder, having at least one valve seat ring () for a lifting valve, wherein the valve seat ring () is surrounded by an annular cooling channel () for a coolant which is formed at least partially into the cylinder head (), wherein the cooling channel () surrounds the valve seat ring at least partially and extends between at least one inlet () and at least one outlet (). In order to reduce the valve wear, it is provided that, as viewed in a section perpendicularly with respect to the axis () of the valve seat ring (), the cooling channel () has at least one preferably substantially crescent-shaped bulge () in the region of the inlet () and/or the outlet ().

The invention relates to a cylinder head () for an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder, having at least one valve seat ring () for a lifting valve, wherein the valve seat ring () is surrounded by an annular cooling duct () for a coolant that is at least partly molded into the cylinder head (), wherein the cooling duct () at least partly surrounds the valve seat ring and extends between an inlet () and at least one outlet (). In order to reduce the valve wear, provision is made for a plurality of inlets () to open into the cooling duct (), wherein the inlets () are preferably arranged asymmetrically in relation to a meridian plane (&#x3b4;) of the valve seat ring () through the outlet ().

A cylinder head () for an internal combustion engine with liquid cooling and a liquid-cooled exhaust manifold () and which is arranged integrally with the cylinder head () includes at least one first and one second cooling chamber () through which a coolant flows, and with the region of the exhaust manifold () being enclosed at least partly by the second cooling chamber. In order to ensure by way of simple production the optimal removal of heat from thermally critical regions, the first and second cooling chambers are flow-connected via at least one borehole () with one another.

An internal combustion engine (), includes a cylinder head () and a cylinder block (), with a crankcase () being fixed to the cylinder block (), and with the crankcase () including at least one oil pump. In order to reduce the production effort the oil pump is arranged in the crankcase (), with the oil pump () being connected with a flange (), and with the flange () being fixed to a mounting wall () of the crankcase ().

Internal combustion engine having a cylinder head and a cylinder block

An internal combustion engine (), including a cylinder head () and a cylinder block (), with a crankcase () being fixed to the cylinder block (), and with at least one mass balancing shaft () being held in the crankcase (). In order to reduce the production effort it is provided that&#x2014;when seen in the direction of the axis () of the crankshaft ()&#x2014;a first pin () which is arranged in a borehole () and arranged as an alignment pin is positioned in the region of the face side () of the crankcase () on a straight connecting line () between the axis () of the mass balancing shaft () and the axis () of the crankshaft (), with preferably the first pin () being arranged in the crankcase () and the borehole () in the flanged bush ().

A cylinder head of an internal combustion engine with several cylinders includes an inlet side and an outlet side with at least two outlet channels per cylinder, wherein a first coolant jacket is arranged in the cylinder head, the first coolant jacket including a first coolant collection channel which extends along the cylinder head on the outlet side over the outlet channels. The first coolant collection channel is connected to cooling chambers at least partially surrounding the outlet channels, the cooling chambers being in a fluidic connection with at least one transfer opening in a cylinder head gasket plane, wherein one first transfer opening per cylinder is arranged in a first transverse engine plane containing a cylinder axis, and wherein a first transverse cooling passage extends from each first transfer opening in the first transverse engine plane between two respective outlet channels, the first transverse cooling passage splitting into two cooling sub-passages in the area of the cylinder axis. Each cooling sub-passage respectively surrounds an outlet channel in the area of a respective outlet opening over an angle (&#x3b1;) of approximately 180&#xb0; and each cooling sub-passage is connected to the coolant collection channel by means of a second transverse cooling passage, wherein each second transverse cooling passage is arranged in the area of a second transverse engine plane extending through at least one cylinder head bolt bore.

A method for machining a cylinder head including a cooling jacket, wherein the fire deck of the cylinder head which is in a raw state is machined by material removal in relation to a reference mark of the cylinder head. The position of the cooling jacket is used as a reference mark.

An exhaust gas line () of an internal combustion engine includes at least one catalytic converter () which is provided with at least one catalytic converter support () which is arranged in the housing () and which includes at least one first and one second area () which can be flowed through in parallel, with the flow being capable of being deactivated in at least one area by a switching device () arranged in the exhaust gas line (). In order to achieve a rapid activation of the catalytic converter in the simplest possible and most compact way, the areas () of the catalytic converter support () have different physical and/or chemical properties in relation to response behavior, permeability, catalytic activity and/or thermal inertia.

A crankcase breathing system () for an internal combustion engine includes at least one oil separating apparatus with a preliminary separator () and a main separator () arranged downstream of the same, with the preliminary separator () including a diffuser () between an inlet () and an outlet () which expands in the direction of flow. In order to achieve high separation rates in the simplest possible way it is provided that the preliminary separator () is arranged integrally with the main separator (), with preferably the preliminary separator () and the main separator () forming a separator unit ().

An oil separator for a crankcase ventilation system in an internal combustion engine having a housing including an inlet and an outlet for a ventilation tube and an oil return line fitting, an enlarged cross section formed by a diffuser being provided in the flow path between inlet and outlet and the oil return line fitting being disposed in the region of the largest cross section of the diffuser and at the lowest point of the housing, includes a substantially tubular entrance part disposed in the region of the outlet and projecting inside the housing, preferably in the region of the largest cross section of the diffuser, and the flow cross section is smaller than the largest cross section of the diffuser, and the flow cross section is smaller than the largest cross section of the diffuser and inlet, outlet, diffuser and/or entrance part are disposed about the same axis.
