An audio processor for providing a plurality of loudspeaker signals, or loudspeaker feeds, on the basis of a plurality of input signals, like channeled signals and/or object signals, is configured to obtain information about the position of a listener, to obtain an information about the position of a plurality of loudspeakers, or sound transducers, which may be placed within the same containment, e.g. a soundbar, to dynamically adapt an allocation of objects and/or channel objects and/or adapted signals, like adapted channel signals, derived from the input signals, like channel signals or channel objects, or like upmixed or downmixed signals, to loudspeakers, and to render the objects and/or the channel objects and/or the adapted signals derived from the input signals, in dependence on the information about the positions of the listener and of the loudspeakers, and on the allocation, in order to obtain the loudspeaker signals, such that a rendered sound follows a listener.

Audio processor and a method for providing loudspeaker signals

A device and method, respectively, obtain a first order ambisonic (FOA) signal from signals of multiple microphones, e.g., at least four or five directive microphones. The device and method determine a look direction of each microphone, and calculate a decoding matrix based on the determined look directions. The decoding matrix is a matrix suitable for decoding a FOA signal into the signals of the microphones. Further, the device and method invert the decoding matrix to obtain an encoding matrix, and encode the signals of the microphones based on the encoding matrix to obtain the FOA signal.

Device and method for obtaining a first order ambisonic signal

The following coding scenario is addressed: A number of audio source signals need to be transmitted or stored for the purpose of mixing wave field synthesis, multi-channel surround, or stereo signals after decoding the source signals. The proposed technique offers significant coding gain when jointly coding the source signals, compared to separately coding them, even when no redundancy is present between the source signals. This is possible by considering statistical properties of the source signals, the properties of mixing techniques, and spatial hearing. The sum of the source signals is transmitted plus the statistical properties of the source signals, which mostly determine the perceptually important spatial cues of the final mixed audio channels. Source signals are recovered at the receiver such that their statistical properties approximate the corresponding properties of the original source signals. Subjective evaluations indicate that high audio quality is achieved by the proposed scheme.

Parametric joint-coding of audio sources

An audio processor for providing loudspeaker signals on the basis of input signals, like channel signals and/or object signals, obtains an information about the position of a listener and an information about the position of a plurality of loudspeakers, or sound transducers. The audio processor selects one or more loudspeakers for a rendering of the objects and/or of the channel objects and/or of the adapted signals, derived from the input signals. The selection depends on the information about the position of the listener and about the positions of the loudspeakers and takes into consideration the information about one or more acoustic obstacles. The audio signal processor renders the objects/channel objects/adapted signals derived from the input signals, in dependence on the information about the position of the listener and about positions of the loudspeakers, in order to obtain the loudspeaker signals, such that a rendered sound follows a listener.

Audio processor and a method considering acoustic obstacles and providing loudspeaker signals

A method and a device encode N audio signals, from N microphones where N&#x2265;3. For each pair of the N audio signals an angle of incidence of direct sound is estimated. A-format direct sound signals are derived from the estimated angles of incidence by deriving from each estimated angle an A-format direct sound signal. Each A-format direct sound signal is a first-order virtual microphone signal, for example, a cardioids signal.

Audio encoding device and method

An apparatus for mapping a first input channel and a second input channel of an input channel configuration to at least one output channel of an output channel configuration, wherein each input channel and each output channel has a direction in which an associated loudspeaker is located relative to a central listener position, configured to map the first input channel to a first output channel of the output channel configuration; and despite of the fact that an angle deviation between a direction of the second input channel and a direction of the first output channel is less than an angle deviation between a direction of the second input channel and the second output channel and/or is less than an angle deviation between the direction of the second input channel and the direction of the third output channel, map the second input channel to the second and third output channels by panning between the second and third output channels.

Apparatus and method for mapping first and second input channels to at least one output channel

An audio processor configured for generating, for each of a set of one or more loudspeakers, a set of one or more parameters, which determine a derivation of a loudspeaker signal to be reproduced by the respective loudspeaker from an audio signal, based on a listener position and loudspeaker position of the set of one or more loudspeakers. The audio processor is configured to base the generation of the set of one or more parameters for the set of one or more loudspeakers on a loudspeaker characteristic of at least one of the set of one or more loudspeakers.
