The present disclosure provides a composition that maintains a high and desirable viscosity while having a high amount of alcohol. Suitable thickeners and gelling agents are mixed with the alcohol to achieve this effect. An emulsion stabilizer can also be added. These components can also be combined with a sunscreen. The resulting composition provides benefits such as cooling and desirable skin feel, but is still easily spreadable and viscous enough to function effectively as a sunscreen.

Viscous alcohol-containing sunscreen compositions

A composition comprising at least one plant derived oil having a melting point of about &#x2212;15 to about 38&#xb0; C. in an amount of about 5% or less by weight; and at least one active chosen from antiperspirant actives and deodorant actives in an amount of about 0.5 to about 16% by weight of the composition on an active weight basis. The composition can be used as an antiperspirant and/or deodorant when applied to an axillary area of a person.

Antiperspirant/deodorant composition

The invention is a clear, elastomer-free, gel composition comprising: (a) 14&#x2013;30 weight % of an antiperspirant active having a low metal to chloride ratio; (b) 7&#x2013;23.3 weight % of one or more cyclomethicones having a flash point of 100 degrees C. or less; (c) 0.6&#x2013;0.9 weight % of a silicone surfactant having an HLB value&#x2266;8; (d) 30&#x2013;70 weight % water; (e) 3.85&#x2013;10 weight % of a water soluble glycol or polyglycol and (f) 0.1&#x2013;3.0 weight % of a non-siliconized organic fragrance solubilizer; wherein the composition is a gel having a viscosity greater than 150,000 centipoise and a ratio of oil phase to water phase in the range of 10:90 to 24:76.

High efficacy gel with low glycol content

Low water emulsions are described which are useful for antiperspirants and/or deodorants wherein the emulsions are made by combining (I) 15-33% of an external phase comprising: (a) 1-25% of an organic ester having a refractive index in the range of 1.43-1.60 and capable of releasing an antiperspirant active to achieve a specified conductivity; (b) a sufficient amount of a silicone copolyol to achieve a solids content of 0.25-10%; (c) a sufficient amount of a volatile silicone to achieve a total amount of the external phase as 15-33%; (c) 0-5% of a silicone elastomer (on an actives basis); and (d) 0-15% of at least one emollient; and (II) 67-85% of an internal phase comprising: (a) an effective amount of at least one cosmetically active ingredient; (b) a sufficient amount of a solvent component to dissolve the cosmetically active ingredient with a maximum amount being about 80%; (c) 0.5-15 % of water optionally containing up to 30% of an ionizable salt soluble in water; (d) 0-5 % of a non-ionic emulsifier; and (e) 0-10% ethanol; wherein: (1) the final refractive index of the composition is in the range of 1.42-1.52; and (2) the conductance of the composition is at least 250 micro Siemens/cm/ml at a loading of at least 7% by weight level of antiperspirant active.

Stable emulsions for cosmetic products

Provided are methods of washing fabric articles in the presence of silicone oils to provide for color protection and/or fragrance retention in the washing of fabric articles with detergents. Fabric articles are washed in a washing medium comprised of a major amount by weight of water, a first minor amount by weight of a detergent and a second minor amount by weight of an aminosilicone having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: the variables are defined in the specification wherein said first minor amount by weight is greater than said second minor amount by weight.
