Method for assembling aluminum alloy parts by welding

The present disclosure concerns a method for assembling aluminum alloy parts, in which (i) at least a first aluminum alloy part is procured in a solution heat treated, quenched, optionally cold worked, and naturally aged at ambient temperature or pre-aged temper, and at least a second aluminum alloy part, (ii) said parts are welded to obtain a welded assembly having a welded zone, (iii) cold working the entire welded zone between 0.3% and 5% is performed, (iv) the welded assembly thus cold worked undergoes post-weld aging to obtain a final metallurgical temper.

An aluminum-based welding filler wire is made with an aluminum alloy that contains between 0.1 and 6 wt. % titanium, including one portion in the form of TiBparticles, TiC particles, or a combination thereof, and another portion in the form of free titanium. The filler wire can be used in welding aluminum-based materials.

The invention relates to an Al&#x2014;Zn&#x2014;Mg&#x2014;Cu alloy worked product, characterised in that contains (percentage by weight) the remainder being aluminium with its inevitable impurities. This product preferentially has an elongation at fracture Aof at least 24% and an Rm&#xd7;Aparameter of at least 8500. It shows a good stress and intergranular corrosion resistance. It may be used for welded constructions, particularly tankers, motor car bodywork, and industrial vehicles.
