Shingle

An exemplary shingle includes at least one coated shingle sheet defining a headlap portion and a tab portion each having opposed upper and lower surfaces. A first line of adhesive is adhered to one of the upper surface of the headlap portion and the lower surface of the tab portion, and includes a first thermally activated adhesive material. A second line of adhesive is adhered to one of the upper surface of the headlap portion and the lower surface of the tab portion, and includes a second thermally activated adhesive material having a minimum activation temperature less than a minimum activation temperature of the first thermally activated adhesive material.

Shingle sealing arrangements

An exemplary laminated shingle includes an overlay sheet having a top overlay surface, a bottom overlay surface, a headlap portion, and a tab portion arranged between two-cutouts. The shingle also includes an underlay sheet having a top underlay surface and a bottom underlay surface. The overlay sheet is attached to the underlay sheet such that a portion of the top underlay surface is exposed on a first side of the tab portion and a portion of the top underlay surface is exposed on a second side of the tab portion.

Hip and ridge shingle

A laminated roofing shingle has an overlay sheet having top surface and bottom surface opposite the top surface. The overlay sheet includes a headlap portion and a butt portion. The butt portion defines a series of tabs and cutouts. An underlay substrate has a top surface attached to the bottom surface of the butt portion of the overlay sheet. The underlay sheet includes a covered portion positioned beneath the tabs of the overlay sheet and a prime portion positioned beneath the cutouts. A layer of reflectivity-increasing granules and/or a layer reflectivity-increasing asphalt, is positioned on only one or both of the tabs of the overlay sheet and the prime portion of the underlay sheet.

An exemplary prefabricated offset shingle includes a headlap portion extending from a top edge to a nail zone, a tab portion extending from the nail zone to a bottom edge, the headlap portion and the tab portion extending between first and second side edges. Two transverse cuts extend from the bottom edge to the headlap portion, and frangible lines of weakness in line with the transverse cuts extend from the transverse cuts to the top edge. The cuts and lines of weakness separate the shingle into first, second, and third offset portions having first, second, and third widths.
