Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a storage medium storing a program and method for rule-based sharing of content collections. The program and method provide for storing, in association with each content collection, a set of rules with first criteria for adding a content item to the content collection, and with second criteria for viewing the content collection; determining, for a first content collection, that the respective first criteria is met for a first user of a first device; providing, based on the determining, for the first user to generate the content item; adding the generated content item to the first content collection; determining, for the first content collection, that the respective second criteria is met for a second user of a second device; and providing, based on the determining, the first content collection to the second device for viewing by the second user.

The system allows users to apply user-selected rules to messages, which dictate the conditions under which certain aspects of the message, such as images or text, are obscured or revealed. For example, a 'reply to reveal' messaging mode may require a recipient to respond to the sender before a blurred image within the message becomes visible. The system includes a processor and memory that store the user-selected rules, apply the messaging mode to messages, and manage the transmission of such messages between user devices. This approach addresses the challenges of engaging users with varying degrees of digital literacy and encourages interactive communication by incentivizing responses through message content visibility conditions.

Systems, devices, methods, instructions stored on media, and other embodiments for a camera interface are described. One embodiment is a method of providing audio input feedback during content capture using a camera, which can involve initiating capture of a piece of content in response to a capture input touch action received at a camera interface on a touchscreen display of the computing device and then processing data from a microphone of the computing device to identify an audio stream associated with the piece of content. An audio quality score is determined from the audio stream, and a feedback signal is displayed on the touchscreen display of the computing device while the capture input touch action is ongoing and associated with capture of the piece of content.

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for providing reduced availability modes in messaging. The program and method provide for maintaining a count of consecutive time periods in which message content has been exchanged between a first user and a second user in a messaging application; receiving, from a device associated with the first user, a request to set an availability mode for the first user to a reduced availability mode with respect to the messaging application; setting, in response to receiving the request, the availability mode for the first user to the reduced availability mode; and refraining from updating the count while the availability mode is set to the reduced availability mode.

An audio recommendation system adds a 'recents' tab in a memory accessible to a messaging system including any audio tracks (songs or sounds) encountered by applications in order to allow quick access to any recently played songs or sounds provided in a message to/from another user or encountered during activities of the user. The displayed “recents” tab enables the user to revisit songs or sounds that the user may wish to use later in another message or to include in the user's music playlist. The “recents” tab also enables the user to browse an audio history in received messages without needing to explicitly save the music or sounds upon receipt. A system to provide users with a means for accessing media content directly, by performing operations that include: causing display of a media item within a graphical user interface at a client device, the graphical user interface including a set of graphical elements; receiving a selection of a graphical element from among the set of graphical elements within the graphical user interface; generating a reference to the media item based on the selection of the graphical element; encoding a matrix barcode with the reference to the media item; and generating a presentation of the media item that includes a display of the matrix barcode at a position within the media item.

The program and method provide for displaying, by a messaging application, a preview user interface for previewing and editing captured video in order to generate a media content item, the preview user interface including an interface element which is selectable to switch to a captions user interface for adding a caption to the media content item; switching, in response to first user input selecting the interface element, to the captions user interface which is configured to receive user input for caption content and a duration to display the caption content; receiving, via the captions user interface, second user input for the caption content and the duration; and generating the media content item based on the caption content and the duration to display the caption content.

In some examples, a method to present an affordance user interface element within a user interface of an interaction application includes detecting an association of a supplemental media content item with a primary media content item presented within the user interface. The supplemental media content item is identified from among a plurality of supplemental media content items supported by the interaction application. The method may include retrieving metadata related to the supplemental media content item and presenting, within the user interface, a supplementation affordance that presents the metadata. In some examples, the supplementation affordance is user selectable via the user interface to invoke a supplementation function that enables a user to apply the supplemental media content item to a further primary media content item. The supplementation function is invoked responsive to detecting a user selection of the supplementation affordance within the user interface.

A second device of a second user selects a first user input content item that was shared to a first content collection by a first user using a first device. The second device is enabled to combine the first user input content item with a second user input content item to create a combined user input content item.
