Examples include a device for providing sheet-format substrate sections from a web-format substrate. The device includes a roll unwinder for inlet-side feeding of the web-format substrate. Two application devices act on the same first side of the web substrate, and are formed by coating units for supplying, to the same first side of the web substrate, a varnish that forms a barrier layer. A drying device is provided between a cross-cutting device and an upstream first coating unit and/or the drying device is provided in the substrate path between the two coating units and the cross-cutting device. The web-format substrate can be cut into sheet-format substrate sections and, at the outlet, the substrate sections can be provided for subsequent processing or output to a delivery unit.

A machine arrangement sequentially processes sheet-like substrates with multiple different processing stations each having a substrate-guiding unit and a substrate-processing unit. At least one of the processing stations has, as a substrate-processing unit, at least one non-impact printing device which prints on the substrate. The processing station with the at least one non-impact printing device has a printing cylinder. Each non-impact printing device is arranged at the circumference of the printing cylinder. The processing station, including the non-impact printing device, also includes a printing cylinder, on the circumference of which, the non-impact printing device that prints the substrates is arranged. On the circumferential surface of the printing cylinder, four substrates are or can be placed behind each other in the circumferential direction. Each of the substrates that are to be conveyed are retained in one of a force-locking and a form-fitting manner on the circumferential surface of the printing cylinder by at least one retaining element.

A printing press arrangement has a plurality of processing stations for processing sheets. The plurality of processing stations are arranged one after another in a transport direction of the sheets for in-line processing of the sheets. Printing press assembly having a plurality of processing stations for processing sheets and method for operating the printing press assembly

The invention relates to a method and a device for arranging sheets in an overlapping position in a transfer unit arranged between a first processing station and a second processing station following the first processing station in a transport direction of the sheets. The sheets to be overlapped are transported from the first processing station to the transfer unit, in a transport plane and each individually lying behind one another. A respective rear, in the transport direction, edge of the sheets coming from the first processing station, is raised relative to the transport plane exclusively by the use of blown air, and a second subsequent sheet is slid under the rear edge of the respective preceding first sheet.
