A device for detecting the amount of splash water to which a brake pad is subjected on a wet roadway. The device includes a test brake pad. whose friction lining is hygroscopically designed so that it can absorb at least 5%. preferably at least 10% water. In a test phase. vehicles can be easily tested by replacing their stock brake pads with test brake pads. By virtue of the fact that the inventive friction lining is hvgroscopic. a direct correlation exists between the water absorption of the friction lining and the amount of moisture led to the friction lining in the form of splash water and air humidity.

In a method for producing a brake shoe (), particularly a brake shoe for disk brakes in motor vehicles, by preforming a friction lining (), arranged on a carrier plate (), from a friction material fed into a press mould and by press-molding the friction material under pressure and heat to form a friction lining (), it is provided that grooves () are formed in the friction lining () which are open at least towards the front face of the friction lining, that the friction lining () provided with grooves () is exposed to a scorching process, that, subsequent to the scorching process, an elastic filling agent () is inserted into the grooves (), and that, subsequent to the insertion of the filling agent (), the brake shoe () is subjected to a drying process, a hardening process or a cross-linking process depending on the filling agent () used.

Method for producing a brake shoe

In a brake shoe (), particularly for a disk brake of motor vehicles, comprising a carrier plate () on which a friction lining () is fastened, in which outwardly open grooves () are arranged in a groove pattern, it is provided that for the reduction of moment vibrations during the braking procedure, the grooves () are filled up with an elastic filler () that does not consist of abrasive material.
