It is provided a gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle, comprising at least one first inflatable chamber configured for the protection of the head of a vehicle occupant; at least one second inflatable chamber configured for the protection of a shoulder and/or thorax region of the vehicle occupant, wherein the gas bag is to be arranged in or on a side of a vehicle seat facing the vehicle interior space. The first and the second chamber are rotatable relative to each other in the inflated condition of the gas bag.

It is provided a gas bag which is inflatable for the protection of a vehicle occupant, comprising: a first gas bag layer and a second gas bag layer, wherein a first fabric blank forms the first gas bag layer and a second fabric blank forms the second gas bag layer, wherein the first fabric blank and the second fabric blank each are woven from threads. An airbag module including an airbag, an airbag covering, that defines an interior space of the airbag, that can be filled with gas for inflating the airbag, a gas generator for providing the gas needed for inflating the airbag, an insertion opening of the airbag covering, wherein the gas generator is inserted through the insertion opening into the interior space of the airbag, so that gas provided by the gas generator enters the interior space of the airbag, a boundary region of the insertion opening delimiting the insertion opening, which boundary region annularly encompasses the gas generator, and a sealing means for sealing the insertion opening. Airbag midule

An airbag comprises a bag which is bent in the shape of an arrow '&#x3c;' in a deployed state, and a connection member which is arranged on a side of the bag, facing a vehicle body, and connects the upper and lower ends of the bag with each other. A longitudinal intermediate portion of the bag projects toward a vehicle occupant. A space is defined between the projecting intermediate portion and the connection member. The head of the vehicle occupant initially comes into contact with the intermediate portion and then presses the bag toward the vehicle body. Upper and lower parts of the bag which extend upward and downward from the intermediate portion cooperate with the connection member to define a triangular space.

Airbag device

An occupant protection device for protecting a vehicle occupant in the event of a vehicle accident, with a gas generator and an airbag which is connected to the gas generator and is inflated by the gas generator in the event of an accident. The gas generator includes a combustion chamber with propellant material which is ignited by a releasable igniting charge, and both the gas formed during combustion of the igniting charge and the gas formed during combustion of the propellant material being used for filling the airbag.

Occupant protection device

The invention relates to an airbag cutting for an airbag of an occupant protection device for motor vehicles. Said cutting comprises two deployed, mutually overlapping airbag parts () that are linked with each other in the area of overlap (U), and a folding axis (A) about which the two airbag parts () can be folded in such a manner as to form an airbag having two separate compartments (KKKK) by linking the airbag sections that lie one on top of the other after folding.

A side airbag device for a vehicle includes an airbag which is deployed in the event of an accident and, in the deployed state, covers a side wall section of the vehicle. In order for the airbag to reliably deploy, provision is made according to embodiments of the invention for the side airbag device to have a deployment control mechanism which deflect the airbag during its deployment around an obstacle situated in a region of a side wall section.

Side airbag device

The invention relates to a gas flow distributor for a lateral airbag module. The distributor is used to distribute a gas flow leaving a gas generator by the outflow openings thereof, in a targeted manner, in a gas bag which is to be inflated by the gas generator. According to an embodiment, the gas flow distributor is formed by a dimensionally stable receiving element surrounding outflow openings of the gas generator.

An airbag for a passenger protection device affords optimum protection to a passenger while being produced using only a small amount of material and, therefore, in an economical manner. This is achieved by providing the airbag with at least two partial airbags that are fluidically connected to each other. At least one tensioning device draws the at least two partial airbags towards each other, thereby tensioning them together.

A gas bag in which an orifice is opened or closed with the aid of a control band as soon as the gas bag has reached a predetermined state of deployment. One end of the control band is fastened to a gas bag envelope in the region of the orifice. The control band is connected at its other end to the gas bag envelope so that, when the predetermined state of deployment is reached, the control band slips into the gas bag envelope so that the orifice is closed by the slipped-in region of the gas bag envelope by the internal pressure of the gas bag, or the control band slips out of the gas bag envelope so that the previously closed orifice is opened.
