An impedance limit switch is configured to determine a limit level of a medium. The switch may include a measuring probe having an oscillator circuit; and an electronic circuit configured to generate an excitation signal for the oscillator circuit. The electronic circuit is further configured to sweep a frequency of the excitation signal and determine a resonance curve of the oscillator circuit. The electronic circuit is further configured to adapt an amplitude of the excitation signal dependent upon the resonance curve in order to reduce an EMC radiation of the switch.

A fill level device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure can be provided. For example, the fill level device can include waveguide couplings, each of which can include a radiator element connected to a microstrip line configured to transmit and/or receive a radar signal, a waveguide configured to conduct the radar signal and a substrate on which the microstrip line, the radiator element and the waveguide can be arranged. The waveguide can have a cross section with a narrow side and a wide side. The narrow side can be shorter than the wide side. The microstrip line can be guided through the narrow side of the waveguide into the waveguide to the radiator element that is arranged in the interior of the waveguide. The microstrip line and the radiator element can be arranged on a surface of the substrate facing the waveguide.

Described is a measuring device for determining a process measurement variable, in particular a pressure, a filling level, and/or a limit level of a medium. The measuring device has a measuring module for recording a measured value of the process measurement variable, a communication module which is configured for data transmission to a communication device, in particular for transmission of a measurement signal correlating with the measured value to the communication device, an electrical load which is supplied with electrical power by means of a supply line of the measuring device. In this case, a switching element for activating and deactivating a power supply of the electrical load is arranged in the supply line, the measuring device is configured in order, based upon the switching element, to deactivate the power supply at least during a part of a transmission time and/or at least during a part of a measurement time.

TDR limit level switch determines whether or not the measuring probe is surrounded by the filling material on the basis of the positions relative to the transmission pulse that can be read out from the detected measuring signal and on the basis of the associated amplitudes of the reflections of the transmission pulse on the coupling point and on the end of the measuring probe. In this way, a limit level message can be formed in a simpler, more secure and more reliable manner.

Method for evaluating a TDR limit level switch

A limit level switch includes an integrated position sensor which, when the limit level switch is put into operation, detects information about the installation position of the limit level switch inside a container. This positional information is taken into account when evaluating the measurement signals detected by the limit level switch in order to determine whether or not the measuring probe is surrounded by filling material. This can simplify the evaluation method.

A waveguide coupling includes a planar radiator element which couples the transmission signal into a waveguide of the waveguide coupling. The waveguide widens in the direction of the planar radiator element, in such a way that the radiator element can be of a comparatively large diameter without the inner walling of the waveguide detracting significantly from the signal quality.
