A system for increasing blood flow through a user's limb during a blood collection procedure includes an inflatable cuff that is worm around the user's limb. A pump and a deflation valve are in fluid communication with the inflatable cuff. A heating element and a temperature sensor are attached to the inflatable cuff. The system also includes a motion sensor. A controller is in communication with the pump, the deflation valve, the heating element and the temperature and motion sensors and detects a blood pressure or blood flow of the user, controls inflation and deflation of the inflatable cuff and controls energization of the heating element based on data from the motion sensor and the temperature sensor.

Heated blood pressure cuff device, system and method

A blood or blood component collection and processing system, apparatus and method are disclosed. One embodiment includes a vascular access device and a blood collection container having a blood inlet and first and second blood component outlets. The outlets are located at opposite ends of the container, and a blood flow conduit extends between the vascular access device and collection container. The collection container is free of attachment to other blood collection containers when in an initial collection configuration at the time of collection.

Breaker for frangible component

Apparatus and method are disclosed for opening a frangible internal cannula located in flexible fluid flow path. The frangible cannula has first and second portions joined by a frangible junction and the apparatus and method cause bending of one portion of the cannula relative to the other portion that results in breaking of the frangible junction and opening of the flow path to fluid flow therethrough.
