A brake system is provided for a trailer vehicle having a plurality of axles, each of which has a wheel end on a respective side of the vehicle, the brake system including first and second pneumatic circuits for supplying air pressure to brake devices at the wheel ends. The system includes a spring brake modulator valve arrangement adapted to control pressure to spring brakes on the vehicle, which modulator valve arrangement receives an input from at least one of the pneumatic circuits and a control pressure from the trailer brake module. Flow of air to the brakes is controllable either by the trailer brake module or by the spring brake modulator valve arrangement to provide redundancy.

Trailer braking system

A brake system for a trailer has first and second pneumatic circuits for supplying air pressure to the wheel ends on the trailer. The air pressure to brake devices at the wheel ends is controllable via a first brake ECU. First and second pressure control valves control pressure from the pneumatic circuits to the respective wheel ends. The system further has a second ECU adapted to electrically control the actuation of the pressure control valves.

A communication interface is provided between a towing vehicle and a trailer, which are connected by a plurality of connectors compliant with standards selected from ISO12098, ISO7638, ISO1185, ISO3731, ISO11446. Digital signals are transmissible between the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle via an ISO11992-3 CAN bus. Pins on the towing vehicles are connected to pins on the towed vehicle by twisted pairs of wires adapted to carry a digital differential signal to provide higher speed data transmission between the vehicles.

A reversing-assistance system for a vehicle, in particular for a utility vehicle, that exhibits a vehicle wiring harness, including: at least one sensor with a first wireless interface, to register a rear region of the vehicle and to transmit corresponding sensor signals in wireless manner; and a control unit, which is connected to the vehicle wiring harness and which includes a second wireless interface, to receive the sensor signals from the at least one sensor in wireless manner, to evaluate the sensor signals and to make them available; in which the control unit is configured to evaluate vehicle-related data independently of the sensor signals and, based on the data, to carry out a control of at least one component of the vehicle so as to perform a control function that is independent of the reversing assistant. Reversing-assistance system and a method for assisting reversing

A sensor device for detecting brake pad and brake disc wear of a disc brake, in particular for a motor vehicle, includes a sensor device and a transmission unit. The sensor device has at least one transducer and at least one sensor transmission having at least one transmission input and is connected to a transducer. The transmission unit is connected to the transmission input and is designed to be connected to a threaded spindle of the disc brake to be associated therewith in order to transmit a wear-related rotary movement. The transmission unit has a drive sleeve for co-rotational connection to the threaded spindle, an output sleeve which is connected to the drive sleeve, at least one spring element and a driver for co-rotational connection to the transmission input, which is connected to the output sleeve for co-rotation therewith. A disc brake includes such a sensor device.

A method is provided for determining an air gap of a vehicle brake, in particular for a motor vehicle, wherein the vehicle brake includes a clamping device, a wear adjustment device, a sensor apparatus for detecting an actuation stroke of the clamping device, and a vehicle control system. The method performs the following steps: (S) receiving a measurement signal of the actuation stroke, which measurement signal is provided by the sensor apparatus, within a previously specifiable time window during a braking process and storing the measurement signal as data pairs of actuation stroke and time during a braking process; (S) calculating a time derivative of the measurement signal in the time window by a suitable algorithm in order to determine a point in time at a maximum; and (S) determining the air gap on the basis of the point in time thus determined and forwarding the value of the air gap thus determined to the vehicle control system. A vehicle brake is equipped with a device for determining an air gap for performing the method.

A sensor device for a disc brake has a sensor gearing which can be coupled to at least one encoder, wherein the sensor gearing is arranged in a housing as a planetary gear mechanism and has an input for a first variable, which can be detected by the sensor device and which is associated with wear of the disc brake, and has an input for a second variable, which can be detected by the sensor device and which is associated with an operating movement of the disc brake. The sensor device can be changed over from a first state for detecting the first variable, which is associated with wear of the disc brake, and the second variable, which is associated with an operating movement of the disc brake, to a second state for detecting only the first variable, which is associated with wear of the disc brake.
