The present invention relates to an inkjet ink comprising: a) colorant; b) a polymeric binder having an acid number below 200 selected from the group consisting of a styrene-acrylic polymeric binder, an acrylic polymeric binder, an anionic polyurethane binder and combinations thereof; c) water dispersible surfactant; and d) a solvent which does not dissolve an acidified form of the binder, the solvent having a vapor pressure less than 0.1 mm at 25&#xb0; C. The invention further relates to methods of making using the ink, printing systems and ink sets which use this ink.

Prevention of optical density loss in inkjet printing

Compositions, systems, and methods for providing smudge resistant and durable ink-jet images having good optical density are provided. Specifically, a system for printing durable ink-jet ink images can comprise a first ink-jet pen containing an ink-jet ink and a second ink-jet pen containing a fixer composition. The ink-jet ink can comprise a first liquid vehicle and a colorant. The fixer composition can comprise a second liquid vehicle, and from 0.5 wt % to 5 wt % of a cationic copolymer of an epihalohydrin and an amine. Upon overprinting or underprinting the fixer composition with respect to the ink-jet ink on a substrate, a durable image can be formed.

Ink-jet printing methods compositions providing improved image durability

In one embodiment, an image developer includes a developer roller rotatable along a photoconductor for presenting a layer of ink to the photoconductor and a cleaner for cleaning ink from the developer roller. The cleaner includes a first cleaning roller rotatable along the developer roller for removing ink from the developer roller and a second cleaning roller rotatable against the first cleaning roller for mechanically removing ink from the first cleaning roller. In one embodiment, the second cleaning roller deforms against the first cleaning roller such that the cross-sectional length of contact between the first and second cleaning rollers is in the range of 20% to 38% of the circumference of the first cleaning roller. In one embodiment, the second cleaning roller has a density in the range of 90 kg/mto 150 kg/m.

Highlighter ink compositions can be prepared which provide improved abilities to reduce smear during highlighting. Highlighter ink compositions can include an acid buffer having a pKa from about 2 to about 6, a highlighter colorant, and a liquid vehicle. The image for highlighting can be formed on the substrate using any conventional printing technique, such as ink-jet printing or other printing techniques. Application of the highlighter ink compositions of the present invention to a printed image results in a reduced degree of image smear, particularly when the image was produced by an ink-jet printing process. Further, the acid buffer can be configured for reducing mobility of specific ink-jet colorants. In this way, the highlighter ink composition can be specifically tailored for reducing smear of various printed inks.

Ink compositions for use in highlighter markers and associated methods

An inkjet ink composition includes a polyurethane material having a weight-average molecular weight ranging from about 50,000 to about 500,000. The polyurethane material is present in an effective amount ranging from about 0.2 wt. % to about 5 wt. %. The composition also includes a solvent present in an effective amount ranging from about 5 wt. % to about 20 wt. %, and an anionic surfactant present in an effective amount ranging from about 0.01 wt. % to about 3 wt. %. The inkjet ink composition is adapted to exhibit enhanced decap.
