A method for processing a compensation layer, used in a vehicle interior, to increase a pressure resistance of the compensation layer. The method includes providing an unprocessed compensation layer. The compensation layer includes a first layer formed of fiber stitches, a second layer formed of fiber stitches, and a plurality of pile fiber bundles, each formed of pile fibers, connecting the first and second layers. The method further includes displacing the first and second layers substantially translatorily towards one another to thereby deform the pile fiber bundles into a deformed state, such that a distance between the first and second layers is reduced. The method also includes fixing the pile fiber bundles in the deformed state, such that the pressure resistance of the compensation layer in the deformed state is greater than the pressure resistance of the unprocessed compensation layer.

Compensation layer and method for production of the same

The present application relates to a method for producing a composite body comprising a flexible decorative material for use as decorative trim having a visible surface in a motor vehicle. The method comprises first joining a plurality of material pieces to form a material block, and then severing one or more composite bodies from the material block. The severing is carried out such that the severed composite body contains several of the material pieces. Thereafter, the severed composite body is applied to a visible surface of a decorative trim.

A directional device for the deployment of an airbag includes a deflection element that directs airbag deployment, the deflection element on actuation of the airbag exerting a pressure on the airbag which is directed away from the windscreen during the entire airbag deployment phase such that the airbag is directed away from the windscreen on its deployment. The directional device prevents damage/destruction of the windscreen on actuation of the airbag and thus improves protection of the vehicle occupants. The directional device is also capable of being variable fixed and replaceable in an airbag configuration/covering and may also optionally be integrated therein such that simplification of the development or series production of the airbag configuration is achieved.

A process for producing an airbag covering having a leather layer, particularly for use in a motor vehicle, with a partial weakening for the initiation of a tear and/or the propagation thereof along a previously defined path is disclosed. In one embodiment, a skived region is introduced into the leather layer and at least one incision is introduced into the previously created skived region.

A method and a device for bonding at least two sheets, is disclosed. The sheets may be joined by a groove and are connected to each other at least in one contact area in the sheet surface of the first sheet. The sheets may first be shaped whereby the first sheet may be shaped with at least one hook which forms an angle with the sheet surface and the second sheet may be shaped with at least one groove and one leg. The hook may be accommodated by the groove and the leg may be substantially parallel to the contact area of the first sheet. The shaped sheets are then bonded to each other, whereby the hook is inserted in the groove and the leg is bonded to the contact area.

Method and device for bonding two sheets

A method for the introduction of at least one locally limited weakening into a decorative composite, in particular for use in an automotive vehicle, by way of a plurality of laser beams, is disclosed. The decorative composite includes at least one decorative substrate, at least one decorative material and at least one upholstered layer arranged between the decorative substrate and the decorative material. The weakening is formed after the joining of the decorative composite as a sequence of first blind holes or perforations, which penetrate the decorative substrate completely, and unweakened webs between these blind holes or perforations. At least one second blind hole, which does not penetrate the decorative substrate, is introduced into at least one web. The first blind holes or perforations are formed in at least two operations, wherein in a first operation, a preliminary weakening which does not penetrate the decorative substrate completely is introduced into the decorative substrate and, in at least one further operation, at least one subsequent weakening of the decorative composition is introduced through the region of the preliminary weakening. Each subsequent weakening has a smaller cross-sectional area perpendicular to the depth of the decorative composite than the preliminary weakening. A trim element for an automotive vehicle, including a decorative composite produced according to the method is also disclosed.

Invisible laser weakening in composite material

A flexible airbag flap of an airbag module, in particular for use in motor vehicles, where the airbag module is arranged on a frame, preferably a metal frame, connected with a decor carrier of an instrument panel, and attached to the decor carrier but not to a cross member supporting the instrument panel. The flexible airbag flap can essentially be supported by the airbag arranged in the airbag module. The decor carrier is designed as one piece with the flexible airbag flap and in the area of the flexible airbag flap has a reduced wall thickness. Also disclosed is a method for production of such a flexible airbag flap with the steps of arranging the frame and preferably an additional layer covering the frame in a forming tool, and connecting the frame with a material, preferably a foaming material, that forms the decor carrier and the flexible airbag flap.

The present invention relates to an airbag cover and a method for manufacturing an airbag cover comprising a first layer () which is substantially intact in the region of a tear seam for airbag deployment and which borders the space in which the air-bag deploys if the need arises, and at least a second layer () which faces the folded airbag, the second layer () being attached to the rear side of the first layer () to reinforce said first layer () and only the second layer () having a weakened region () to predetermine the run of the tear seam during the deployment of the airbag.
