An induction device having windings of different phases arranged around magnetic core limbs. The magnetic core limbs are connected by at least one body formed from magnetic particles in a matrix of a dielectric material.

Multiphase induction device

A rotating asynchronous converter and a generator device having a first stator connected to a first AC network with a first frequency f, and a second stator connected to a second AC network with a second frequency f. The converter has a rotor which rotates in dependence of the first and second frequencies f, f. The stators each have at least one winding formed of at least one current-carrying conductor, and an insulation system, formed of semiconducting layers each forming an equipotential surface, and a solid insulation between the semiconducting layers.

Rotating asynchronous converter

The present invention relates to a rotating asynchronous converter and a generator device. The converter comprises a first stator connected to a first AC network with a first frequency f, and a second stator connected to a second AC network with a second frequency f. The converter also comprises a rotor means which rotates in dependence of the first and second frequencies f, f. The stators each comprises at least one winding, wherein each winding comprises at least one current-carrying conductor, and each winding comprises an insulation system, which comprises on the one hand at least two semiconducting layers, wherein each layer constitutes substantially an equipotential surface, and on the other hand between them is arranged a solid insulation.

Rotating asynchronous converter and a generator device

A power or regulating transformer with voltage regulator includes regulating windings made of a flexible conductor having an electric field containing mechanism that forces the electric field due to the current in the winding to be contained within the flexible conductor. Since virtually no electric field is to be found outside the flexible conductor of the regulating winding, the regulating winding may be formed without having to consider the electric field distribution, thus providing for a transformer with a favorable regulating winding design.

Transformer with voltage regulating means

A rotating asynchronous converter for connection of AC network with equal or different frequencies employs a first stator connected to a first AC network with a first frequency and a second stator connected to a second AC network with a second frequency, and a rotor which rotates in response to the first and second frequencies. The converter has at least one winding formed of a cable, including a conductor and a magnetically permeable, electric field confining insulating covering surrounding the conductor.

A superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) device including a first coil made of superconducting material, a cooling mechanism for cooling the first coil to superconducting temperatures, a second coil inductively coupled to the first coil for inputting emergy to, and/or outputting energy from, the first coil, and a switch for switching the first coil between a superconducting condition and a non-superconducting condition. The first coil is arranged as a closed loop electric circuit having no connecting device mechanically connected to it for inputting or outputting energy. The switch includes a third coil for the application or removal of a magnetic field for switching the first coil between its non-superconducting and superconducting conditions. A method inputs energy to and/or outputs energy from the first coil and a power supply system utilizes the device and method.

Magnetic energy storage device

A distributed air gap material for a induction device in power systems for minimizing fringe losses, mechanical losses and noise in the core The distributed air gap material occupies a selected portion of the core and is formed of a finely divided magnetic material in a matrix of a dielectric material particles. The air gap material has a zone of transition in which the permeability values vary within the air gap material.

Induction devices with distributed air gaps

A power transformer having at least one high voltage winding and one low voltage winding. Each of the windings includes at least one current-carrying conductor, a first layer having semiconducting properties provided around said conductor, a solid insulating layer provided around said first layer, and a second layer having semiconducting properties provided around said insulating layer. The windings are intermixed such that turns of the high voltage winding are mixed with turns of the low voltage winding.

Transformer

A high power static electromagnetic device with a flux path, a main winding and one or more regulation windings surrounding portions of the flux path. A control device is coupled to the flux path for selectively admitting the flux therein. In an exemplary embodiment, multiple flux paths are selectively turned on and off for including and excluding the regulation windings from the circuit. The windings may be formed of a magnetically permeable, field-confining insulating cable.

Switchable flux control for high power static electromagnetic devices

A high voltage power cable termination with a current lead, a power cable having a first tube and an outer conductor, e.g., a superconductor, whose electrically conducting properties improve at low temperatures, arranged around the first tube and intended in use to be cooled to low temperatures by cryogenic fluid flowing through the first tube, a joint for electrically connecting one end of the current lead to the conductor at one end of the cable at or adjacent to one of the first tube, and a second tube communicating with the first tube at or adjacent to the joint for conveying cryogenic fluid to or from the first tube. The first and the second tube are arranged so that, in use, no cryogenic fluid conveyed by the tubes contacts the conductor or the current lead at the joint. The invention also relates to electrical apparatus, e.g., a high voltage induction device, having such a termination.
