The control unit is configured for determining a joint communication quality for a set of terminals from the plurality of terminals using a joint communication information of the set of terminals. The control unit is configured for determining that the joint communication quality is below a quality threshold value, determining a liable terminal from the set of terminals, the liable terminal being liable for the joint communication quality being below the quality threshold value, and controlling the communication such that communication of the second type is scheduled to the liable terminal.

Control unit, wireless communication network and method for operating a control unit

A gateway is configured to communicate with a satellite so as to control the preceding/pre-equalization of a communication between the satellite and at least one terminal based on a channel state of a channel between the terminal and the satellite. The gateway is configured for receiving a location-related information indicating a location of the terminal and for determining a predicted channel state information related to the channel state between the terminal and the satellite using the location-related information. The gateway is configured for controlling the signal processing so as to precode the communication according to the predicted channel state information.

Network synchronization of a beam-hopping satellite system

System for non-terrestrial communications

A wireless communication system has at least one user-side-device and a base-station. The at least one user-side-device and the base-station are configured to communicate with each other via a satellite applying a timing-advance-value (TA) for synchronizing an uplink of the communication. The base-station is configured to provide the at least one user-side-device with a satellite-connecting-signal concerning an uplink towards the satellite, the satellite-connecting-signal providing configuration information in order to establish and adjust the uplink to the satellite. The at least one user-side-device is configured to perform an adjustment of the timing-advance-value for a pre-compensation of at least one synchronization offset of an uplink in case the at least one user-side-device receives the satellite-connecting-signal, the satellite-connecting-signal including a granting-signal indicating the user-side-device the allowance to adjust the timing-advance-value. Responsive to the granting-signal, the at least one user-side-device is configured to automatically adjust the timing-advance-value for an unlimited time or for a certain period of time, until the at least one user-side-device receives a new TA adjustment configuration.

Wireless communication system, base-station and user-side-device

Receivers, controller units for receivers and related methods are provided. One receiver includes an adjustable sample provider providing samples of an input signal using an adjustable sample timing and a feedback path providing a feedback signal to the adjustable sample provider based on a timing error. The feedback path includes a loop filter providing sample timing information to the adjustable sample provider and a replacement value provider providing a replacement sample timing information replacing the sample timing information when an input signal does not fulfil a predetermined requirement for a feedback-based sample timing adaptation. The replacement value provider provides the replacement sample timing information considering a timing error information over a longer time period when compared to a time period considered by the loop filter for a provision of the sample timing information.

Adaptive timing synchronization for reception for bursty and continuous signals

There are provided examples of receivers, controller units and related methods, wherein one receiver includes: an adjustable sample provider configured to provide samples of an input signal using an adjustable sample timing; a feedback path configured to provide a feedback signal to the adjustable sample provider on the basis of a timing error, wherein the feedback path includes a loop filter configured to provide sample timing information to the adjustable sample provider; and a replacement value provider configured to provide a replacement sample timing information replacing the sample timing information provided by the feedback path when an input signal does not fulfil a predetermined requirement for a feedback-based sample timing adaptation, wherein the replacement value provider is configured to provide the replacement sample timing information considering a timing error information, or a quantity derived from the timing error information, over a longer time period when compared to a time period considered by the loop filter for a provision of the sample timing information.

A transceiver of a user equipment includes a receiving stage, a frontend channel estimator, a frontend channel equalizer, a backend channel estimator, and a backend channel equalizer. The receiving stage is configured to receive an inbound signal from a SUDAC, which enables a relay communication including a frontend communication using extremely-high frequencies and a backend communication using ultra-high frequencies. The inbound signal includes a data portion, a backend control portion and a frontend control portion, the frontend control portion including a frontend evaluation signal and a configuration signal. The frontend and the backend channel estimators are configured to perform channel estimations based on the frontend evaluation signal and the backend control portion, respectively, wherein the frontend and backend channel equalizers are configured to equalize distortions, caused by using the extremely-high and ultra-high frequencies, respectively, based on the channel estimation of the frontend and backend channel estimators, respectively.

Transceiver, a SUDAC, a method for signal processing in a transceiver, and methods for signal processing in a SUDAC

A SUDAC includes a first and a second wireless communication interface and a processor. The first wireless communication interface is configured for using ultra-high frequency in order to establish at least one backend communication link with a base station. The second wireless communication interface is configured for using extremely-high frequency in order to establish at least one frontend communication link with a user equipment. The processor is configured for at least partially forwarding a user information signal received via the frontend communication link to be transmitted via the backend communication link while frequency converting the extremely-high frequency to the ultra-high frequency vice versa. The processor is further configured for extracting control information from the user information signal and for controlling forward parameters of the first or the second wireless communication interface based on the control information.

SUDAC, user equipment, base station and SUDAC system

A two-stage signaling concept for a datastream to be transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver is proposed. At the transmitter side, a plurality of frame headers are generated, each frame header including data transmission parameters for payload data. A super-frame header for a super-frame is generated. The super-frame includes a plurality of frames, each frame including one of the frame headers and payload data. The super-frame header indicates a set of super-frame-constant frame header transmission parameters for the frame headers of the plurality of frames of the super-frame. A receiver evaluates the super-frame header of to obtain the super-frame-constant frame header transmission parameters, which are then used to evaluate the plurality of frame headers PLH to retrieve the data transmission parameters. The proposed concept provides added flexibility, less signaling overhead, and/or an option of improved receiver performance at low SNR levels.
