Marker for use in a magnetic electronic article surveillance system

For manufacturing a pulse generator wherein a voltage pulse dependent on the change in magnetic field can be achieved by sudden magnetic reversal (Barkhausen skip) given an applied magnetic field, an iron alloy is employed for one of the materials of the composite member, the additional alloy constituents of this iron alloy being selected such that a structural conversion with volume change respectively occurs at different temperatures. For producing the stressed condition, a thermal treatment is then implemented, which includes heating above the upper transition temperature and a cooling below the lower transition temperature. As a result, substantially greater stresses between the materials of the composite member arise, causing a pulse behavior significantly improved in comparison to known pulse generators of the type capable of recognizing constant or alternating magnetic fields.

Method for manufacturing a magnetic pulse generator

A composite member particularly suited for anti-theft security systems is composed of a core of soft-magnetic material having a nickel-iron alloy (in weight percent) of 55 through 82 nickel, 0 through 4 molybdenum, the remainder iron, or an aluminum-iron alloy having 5 through 16% aluminum, the remainder iron, with a cobalt-vanadium-iron alloy or a cobalt-chromium-iron alloy envelope for the composite member.

Composite member for generating voltage pulses

A solid, semi-hard magnetic alloy adapted to be sealable in glass in the system cobalt-(nickel, aluminum, titanium) - iron. The alloy is intermediately annealed, cold worked by at least 70%, and subjected to a final annealing. The alloy can be sealed in glass and displays magnetic and physical property characteristics making it suitable for the fabrication of storage apparatus and switching elements.

Niobium-free semi-hard magnetic glass sealable alloy system of cobalt-

A solid semi-hard magnetic alloy adapted to be sealable in glass in the system cobalt (nickel, titanium, Me) iron wherein Me is at least one metal of the group aluminum, copper, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, and chromium. The alloy is intermediately annealed, cold worked by at least 75%, and subjected to a final annealing. The alloy can be sealed in glass and displays magnetic and physical property characteristics making it suitable for the fabrication of storage apparatus and switching elements.
