A medical or dental treatment device comprises a tool retainer, a measuring coil and an evaluation device. The tool retainer can be connected to a plurality of different tools. The measuring coil can be supplied with a periodic electrical energy. The evaluation device can be connected to the measuring coil for detecting whether a tool is connected to the treatment device or which of a plurality of tools is connected to the treatment device. On the basis of an electromagnetic (e.g., inductive) coupling between the tool accommodated in the tool retainer and the measuring coil supplied with the periodic energy, a periodic measurement signal specific to each tool can be generated and assigned by the evaluation device to the tool. The evaluation device determines the phase shift of the electrical voltage and of the electric current of the periodic measurement signal.

Medical or dental treatment device and tool for such a treatment device

A medical or dental instrument part having a coupling device, a medical or dental instrument part controller, at least one sensor which is configured to generate a sensor signal and three electrical lines, wherein a first shared electric line and a second shared electric line of the three electrical lines connect the medical or dental instrument part controller and an electromagnetic radiation emitting device to a shared electrical power source to supply electrical power from the shared electrical power source, and wherein a third electric line of the three electric lines connects the medical or dental instrument part controller and the sensor to a control, regulating or supply unit, so that the sensor signal can be transmitted to the control, regulating or supply unit.

A medical or dental instrument having a metal instrument component and an RFID memory tag having a memory chip for storing data, wherein the RFID memory tag is attached to the medical or dental instrument such that the RFID memory tag is electrically connected to the metal instrument component such that the metal instrument component forms an antenna for the RFID memory tag for wireless energy and/or data transfer. An electrically conductive coupling element electrically connects the RFID memory tag to the metal instrument component forming an antenna, the electrically conductive coupling element having a planar first coupling surface on which the RFID memory tag is arranged and a second coupling surface arranged on the metal instrument component forming the antenna. A method for manufacturing or retrofitting a corresponding medical or dental instrument is also described.

A medical or dental instrument part having a coupling device for connecting the instrument part to a control, regulating or supply unit, a memory device that can be operated with electrical power for storing identification data and/or operating and/or care data of the instrument part and at least one electrical line, which is provided for supplying electrical power to a lighting device that is provided on the instrument part or can be connected to the instrument part for operating the lighting device and for supplying electrical power to the memory device for operating the memory device. In addition, a medical or dental treatment device having such a medical or dental instrument part and a corresponding method for supplying electrical power to a lighting device and to a memory device by at least one electrical line are provided.

Medical or dental instruments, preferably handpieces, can have different temperature-measuring devices for measuring the temperature in the instrument or of at least a part of the instrument. The temperature-measuring devices can be designed, for example, to measure the temperature contactlessly by detection of electromagnetic radiation or to measure the temperature of an interior of the instrument that can be heated by a heat source. The temperature-measuring devices may be designed, for example, as electrical temperature-measuring devices or may have a magnetic material whose magnetic property is a function of temperature and/or has a temperature-dependent course. The temperature-measuring device may have, for example, an electrical switching device and a signal device wherein the signal device is switched at least between a first signal condition and a second signal condition when a temperature limit value is reached or exceeded or is underrun.

Medical or dental instrument with a temperature-measuring device

A coupling device for releasably connecting a handpiece to another component. One of a first coupling element and a second coupling element, is designed as a coupling cavity, into which a coupling protrusion on the other coupling element can be inserted. A positioning element is disposed on the first coupling element or the second coupling element and can be inserted into a first recess on the other coupling element to position the two coupling elements in a defined angular position about their common axis. A light source disposed in a second recess on the first or second coupling element can be coupled to an optical fiber on the other coupling element. A transfer element disposed on the first or second coupling element and inserted into a third recess on the other coupling element is configured to transfer data, signals and/or energy between the first and second coupling elements.

Coupling device for releasable connection of a medical or dental handpiece to a drive unit or to a supply tubing

Embodiments of a medical or dental handpiece are disclosed. A medical or dental handpiece may include a rotatable drive element to drive a tool that can be connected to the handpiece, a rotational speed measuring device which is designed to generate a variable electric rotational speed measurement signal assigned to the rotational speed of the drive element, a lighting device that can be supplied with electric power for emitting radiation, in particular visible light, onto a treatment site, and at least one shared electric line, which is provided for transmitting electric power to the illumination device and the rotational speed measurement signal of the rotational speed measurement device. Further a corresponding method for the operation of a medical or dental handpiece is disclosed.

Medical or dental handpiece

A medical or dental handpiece comprises a lighting device for the emission of radiation, in particular of visible light, onto a treatment site, a temperature sensor preferably located in the interior of the handpiece, and at least one shared electrical signal line provided in the handpiece for the lighting device and the temperature sensor. The lighting device and the temperature sensor are both operatively connected to the at least one shared electrical signal line. A medical or dental treatment device comprises such a handpiece and a control and/or regulation device electrically connected to the at least one shared electrical signal line provided in the handpiece, which is designed to emit a first electrical signal assigned to the lighting device and a second electrical signal assigned to the temperature sensor.

Various medical or dental handpieces having at least one coil for inductive coupling with a second coil and methods for using these handpieces for the transmission of at least one of power, operational data and identification data are described. Also various tool-holding/releasing devices for medical or dental handpieces are described, having at least one shaped element penetrating through a bore in a hollow shaft for accommodating a tool and protruding through the bore into the hollow shaft, a movably arranged locking sleeve cooperating with the shaped element and an operating element for moving the locking sleeve. Some of these tool-holding/releasing devices allow the insertion of the tool into the hollow shaft with different insertion depths.

Medical or dental handpiece with inductive coupling

Methods for controlling and/or regulating of a compressed-gas-operable medical or dental drive device and a control and/or regulating device for performing such methods are described. In one method according to a first embodiment, a rotor of the drive device is operated at an essentially constant rotational speed (n) by adjusting the gas pressure and/or the flow rate of the compressed gas through a valve and the rotational speed is reduced on reaching a pressure value (p) of the compressed gas which is lower than the maximum gas pressure (p) of the compressed gas. In the case of a method according to a second embodiment, the gas pressure of the compressed gas and the rotational speed of the rotor are altered on reaching a rotational speed limit value (n, n) of the rotor by adjusting the valve.

Method for controlling and/or regulating a compressed-gas-operable medical drive device and such a drive device

A quick stop drilling tool for use with a medical or dental treatment device includes a drilling tool having a body extending between a connection end and a working end and having a longitudinal extension along a longitudinal axis of the drilling tool. The drilling tool has a hollow outer shell in which a probe is held that can be moved along the longitudinal axis so that a part of the probe can be moved out of the shell through an opening. The probe is designed as an elongated pin, and its first end facing the connection end is held in the interior of the hollow outer shell. An electromagnetic sensor for detecting relative movement between the shell and the probe is arranged along the longitudinal extension of the body. The drilling tool has a channel for a treatment fluid extending along the longitudinal axis.

Quick stop drilling tool for use with a medical or dental treatment device

A medical treatment device comprises a sensor to detect operating states of the medical treatment device, wherein the sensor comprises a first electrode, a second electrode and impedance means. The first electrode is arranged between a current path input and a current path output, wherein an electric input signal for powering the medical treatment device is applicable to the current path input, and the current path output is configured to couple to a load of the medical treatment device. The second electrode is separated from the first electrode by a first dielectric material, the second electrode comprising a first signal terminal for obtaining a first sensor signal. The impedance means are separated from the first electrode by a second dielectric material and comprise a second signal terminal for obtaining a second sensor signal. The first electrode comprises a cross section perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the electric input signal such that the first electrode and the second electrode are coupled to provide a capacitance as first sensor signal, and wherein the impedance means are formed as a structured electrode such that the first electrode and the impedance means are coupled to provide an impedance as second sensor signal.
