Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for applying digital pre-distortion with frequency selectivity to a transmission signal. An example technique includes determining one or more target parameters of an input signal, the one or more target parameters being based on frequency of the input signal. The technique also includes applying digital pre-distortion with frequency selectivity to the input signal according to the one or more target parameters of the input signal to generate a resulting signal. The technique further includes processing the resulting signal to generate an analog signal for transmission and transmitting the analog signal.

Focused digital pre-distortion with component carrier variations

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, one or more downlink grants scheduling one or more corresponding downlink transmissions from the base station to the UE. In some examples, the UE may enter a state of sleep prior to receiving the one or more downlink transmissions. In such examples, the UE may wake up from the state of sleep at a first time that is at least a threshold period of time before a second time corresponding to a beginning of the one or more downlink transmissions. After waking up from the state of sleep, the UE may activate a notch filter and use the activated notch filter to filter a spur generated at the UE. The UE may receive the one or more downlink transmissions with improved reliability based on activating the notch filter.

Techniques for pre-opening notch filter in wireless communications system

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless device may obtain, in a frequency range, device-specific data for use in determining at least one of a frequency or a power of a spurious signal. The wireless device may generate, based at least in part on the device-specific data, information that indicates the at least one of the frequency or the power of the spurious signal. Numerous other aspects are described.

Spurious signal detection

Methods, systems, and devices are described for generating a hybrid waveform for data transmission between a transmitting device and a receiving device. The transmitting device may employ an OFDM processing technique to periodically transmit known first pilot symbols mapped from a signal constellation where each signal has equal energy during a first time period and a cyclic prefix based single-carrier (CP-SC) processing technique to transmit data packets and second known pilot symbols during a second time period. Channel estimation is based on first pilot symbols, which are inserted into all subcarriers of OFDM symbol blocks within a specific period. Channel estimation tracking is based on the second pilot symbols interleaved within data packets. The receiving device may be configured to estimate CSI based in part on first pilot symbols and to track the channel estimation based in part on the second pilot symbols in order to provide reliable data detection.

Hybrid waveform design combining OFDM and cyclic prefix based single carrier for millimeter-wave wireless communication

A receiver receives packets without prior knowledge of their bandwidths. The receiver calculates a first auto-correlation function for a first channel, a second auto-correlation function for a second channel, and a dot product of the first auto-correlation function and the second auto-correlation function. A packet is detected and its bandwidth classified based at least in part on the dot product.

Packet detection and bandwidth classification for variable-bandwidth packets

A coax network unit (CNU) is coupled to a coax line terminal (CLT). In first and second modes of operation, the CNU transmits data during an upstream window and receives data during a downstream window. In the first mode of operation, a duration of data transmission for the upstream window or a duration of data reception for the downstream window is reduced by a specified amount with respect to the second mode. A sounding signal is transmitted in the first mode in a probing slot that has a duration corresponding to the specified amount.

Wideband signal generation for channel estimation in time-division-duplexing communication systems

A communication device includes a resource allocation module to allocate coax resources for signals to be transmitted over a cable plant and a coax physical layer device to transmit the signals over the cable plant using the allocated coax resources. The communication device also includes a media access controller, coupled to the multi-point control protocol implementation and the coax physical layer device, to provide to the coax physical layer device a bitstream that includes data for the signals and also includes information specifying the allocated coax resources.

Methods and systems of specifying coaxial resource allocation across a MAC/PHY interface

A network device includes a plurality of physical-media entities (PMEs), each corresponding to a distinct channel, to generate transmit signals based on transmit packets received over a media-independent interface. The network device also includes a channel-bonding sublayer to direct the transmit packets from the media-independent interface to respective PMEs of the plurality of PMEs. The channel-bonding sublayer has a substantially fixed delay between the media-independent interface and the plurality of PMEs for the transmit packets.

Physical-layer channel bonding

To reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of a complex-valued digital baseband signal, the signal is mixed to an intermediate frequency and its real components extracted, to generate an intermediate-frequency real-valued digital signal. The intermediate frequency is one-quarter of a sampling rate of the complex-valued digital baseband signal. The intermediate-frequency real-valued digital signal is clipped and down-converted by one-quarter of the sampling rate.

Dynamic-range reduction of complex-valued baseband signals

A system is provided for transmitting information through a speech codec (in-band) such as found in a wireless communication network. A modulator transforms the data into a spectrally noise-like signal based on the mapping of a shaped pulse to predetermined positions within a modulation frame, and the signal is efficiently encoded by a speech codec. A synchronization sequence provides modulation frame timing at the receiver and is detected based on analysis of a correlation peak pattern. A request/response protocol provides reliable transfer of data using message redundancy, retransmission, and/or robust modulation modes dependent on the communication channel conditions.

System and method of an in-band modem for data communications over digital wireless communication networks

A method of registering a coax network unit (CNU) in a network is performed at an optical-coax unit (OCU). In the method, a first discovery message is broadcasted to a plurality of CNUs. In response, a first registration request is received from a first CNU of the plurality of CNUs. In response to the first registration request, a proxy entity corresponding to the first CNU is implemented in the OCU. A second discovery message is received from an optical line terminal (OLT). In response to the second discovery message, a second registration request is transmitted to the OLT requesting registration of the proxy entity with the OLT.

Multi-point control protocol proxy architecture in a network with optical and coaxial domains

An optical-coax unit (OCU) includes an optical PHY to receive and transmit optical signals and a coax PHY to receive and transmit coax signals. The OCU also includes a media-independent interface to provide a first continuous bitstream from the optical PHY to the coax PHY and a second continuous bitstream from the coax PHY to the optical PHY. The first continuous bitstream corresponds to received optical signals and transmitted coax signals, and the second continuous bitstream corresponds to received coax signals and transmitted optical signals.

Repeater fiber-coax units

A media converter is to be coupled to an optical line terminal via an optical link and to a plurality of coax network units via coax links in a cable plant. The media converter includes an optical physical-layer device to receive and transmit optical signals via the optical link and a coax physical-layer device to receive and transmit electrical signals via the coax links. The media converter also includes an implementation of an optical-coax convergence layer to schedule transmissions of electrical signals from the plurality of coax network units by allocating coax resources among the plurality of coax network units in accordance with resource allocation for the optical link.
