The present invention relates to a semiconductive polymer composition comprising: &#x2014;an ethylene copolymer (A) comprising methyl(meth)acrylate co-monomer units, wherein the ethylene copolymer (A) has a melt temperature of 80&#xb0; C. or below, and&#x2014;carbon black, wherein the ethylene copolymer (A) is produced in a autoclave high pressure reactor or in a multi-feed tubular reactor; to a semiconductive polymer composition comprising&#x2014;an ethylene copolymer (A) comprising methyl(meth)acrylate, comonomer units; and&#x2014;carbon black, wherein ethylene copolymer (A) is characterized in that the fraction obtained in the first fractionation step (fraction 1) in the fractionation method of ethylene copolymer (A) as described herein, is present in an amount of not more than 40 wt. % based on the total amount of the ethylene copolymer (A); and to a cable comprising a semiconductive layer comprising the semiconductive polymer composition and to the use of the semiconductive polymer composition in the preparation of a semiconductive layer of a power cable.

The invention relates to a cable having a conductor surrounded by at a least one polymer layer having a polymer composition of the invention which has a polymer component and optionally a carbon black (CB) component, to a production process of the cable and to a polymer composition of the invention which has a polymer component and optionally a carbon black (CB) component and which is for use in a cable layer.

A polyethylene moulding composition having a multimodal molecular weight distribution, having a density according to ISO 1183 at 23&#xb0; C. in the range of 920 to 960 kg/mand an MFR190/2 according to ISO 1133 in the range of 0.05 to 10 g/10 min, said polyethylene moulding composition comprising at least three ethylene polymer fractions having distinct molecular weights: A) 15 to 50 wt % of a low molecular weight ethylene homopolymer or copolymer fraction with a weight average molecular weight Mw in the range of 15 to 40 kg/mol; B) 15 to 50 wt % of a medium molecular weight ethylene homopolymer or copolymer fraction with a weight average molecular weight Mw in the range of 70 to 200 kg/mol; and C) 15 to 50 wt % of a high molecular weight ethylene homopolymer or copolymer fraction with a weight average molecular weight Mw in the range of 220 to 400 kg/mol, provided that one of A, B and C is an ethylene homopolymer and at least one other component is an ethylene copolymer with at least one C-Ccomonomer; and wherein the composition has&#x2014;a Shore D hardness measured according to ASTM D2240-05 (15 sec) of at least 56.0.
