Sr&#x2014;Mn&#x2014;O perovskite (LSM) and combinations thereof.

Solid oxide fuel cell stack having a glass sealant composition

The invention provides an interconnect device for a fuel cell comprising an electrolyte, an anode and a cathode, the interconnect device comprising a channel system having a plurality of channels, each channel being closed in one end and having either an inlet side or an outlet side at the open end of the channel, each channel having an inlet side placed in alternating order with a channel having an outlet side, the inlet side of each channel placed in consecutive order on one side of the interconnect, and the outlet sides of each channel placed in consecutive order on the opposite side of the interconnect relative to the inlet side, and a second layer of channels is located on the surface of the channel system. The invention also provides a fuel cell and a fuel cell stack in which the interconnect device is used.

The invention concerns a method for making Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) and stacks. The method concerns assembling the layers required for the formation of a fuel cell, sintering the fuel cell and thereafter shaping the cell. When making a fuel cell stack, the sintered fuel cells are assembled with the interconnect, spacing and sealing material to form a stack of at least one stack element, followed by shaping the stack. Shaping is carried out in various ways and maximum tolerances of 1% are obtained.

Process for catalytical steam reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock

Process for the generation of electrical energy in an internal reforming high temperature fuel cell, comprising steam and/or carbon dioxide reforming of a hydrocarbon feed gas in contact with a catalyst having activity in the steam reforming of the carbonaceous gas to fuel cell fuel gas and being arranged within the fuel cell in heat conducting relationship with electrochemical reactions proceeding in the cell; and electrochemically reacting the fuel gas in an anode compartment of the cell for the generation of electric energy, wherein the steam reforming activity of the catalyst has been reduced by including one or more salts of metals selected from Group IA, IB, IIA, IVA and VA of the Periodic Table in the catalyst.

Process for generating electrical energy in a high temperature fuel cell

A series of modified phosphoric acid electrolytes containing fluorinated carbon compounds and silicone fluids as additives are disclosed. The modified electrolytes can improve the fuel cell performance due to the enhanced oxygen reduction kinetics. These additives are, preferably, potassium perfluorohexanesulphonate (C.sub.6 F.sub.13 KO.sub.3 S), potassium nonafluorobutanesulphonate (C.sub.4 F.sub.9 KO.sub.3 S), perfluorotributylamine [(C.sub.4 F.sub.9).sub.3 N] and polymethylsiloxanes [(--Si(CH.sub.3).sub.2 O--).sub.n ]. The additives are added in an amount of 0.1-5 wt % with respect to the phosphoric acid electrolyte.
