The invention relates to a magnetocaloric generator includes a set of porous active elements based of MCM materials, and a magnetic arrangement. The magnetic arrangement includes two superposed magnetic rotors, namely an external magnetic rotor and an internal magnetic rotor delimiting an air gap between them, and includes one same number of magnetic poles. The set of active elements includes a stator disposed in said air gap. The active elements extending axially in said stator enable a two-directional axial circulation of a heat-transfer fluid between a hot end and a cold end of said generator. The external magnetic rotor is advantageously coupled, on the one hand, to an electrical machine by a mechanical coupling, and on the other hand, to said internal magnetic rotor by a magnetic coupling, such that said rotors move in one same direction of rotation and are magnetically synchronous.

Magnetocaloric generator

A machine for converting thermal energy originating from waste heat deposits into electrical energy. It uses the magnetic phase transition properties of certain materials when they are exposed to a temperature variation with respect to their Curie temperature. The machine includes a magnetothermal converter provided with a fixed stator provided with active elements made of the materials, and a mobile rotor provided with magnetic poles and non-magnetic poles. The machine includes a closed fluidic circuit of heat-transfer fluid, coupled with two thermal sources of different temperatures by means of heat exchangers and with the stator to transfer thermal energy collected in the active elements. A synchronization system makes it possible to expose the active elements to alternating thermal cycles to generate a permanent magnetic imbalance between the rotor and the stator, and generate a displacement of the rotor, creating mechanical energy that can be converted into electrical energy.

Machine for converting thermal energy into electrical energy or vice versa

A magnetocaloric thermal generator having a primary circuit fluidically connecting first and second stages of magnetocaloric elements using a heat transfer primary fluid flowing alternately back and forth. The stages being subjected to variable magnetic field of a magnetic system. The primary system includes a cold side and a hot side to which the magnetocaloric elements of the stages are fluidically connected. At least the cold side of the primary circuit has an outlet point connected to another point of the primary circuit, referred to as the injection point, on the hot side by a bypass pipe allowing the primary fluid to be displaced only from the outlet point towards the injection point. The magnetocaloric thermal generator is used in a method for cooling the secondary fluid.

Magnetocaloric thermal generator and method of cooling same

A one-piece part based on magnetocaloric material comprising an alloy comprising iron and silicon and a lanthanide, comprises a base in a first plane defined by a first and second direction and N unitary blades secured to the base; the blades having a first and second dimension in the first and second direction, respectively, and a third dimension in a third direction at right angles to the first and second dimensions; an ith blade being separated from an (i+1)th blade by an ith distance; the ratio between the second dimension and first dimension being at least 10; the ratio between the third dimension and first dimension being at least 6; the first dimension being the same order of magnitude as the distance separating an ith blade from an (i+1)th blade. The magnetocaloric material can be rare-earth alloy or a composite material based on polymer binder and rare-earth alloy.

A magnetocaloric thermal apparatus () with a structure that rotates about a longitudinal axis (L), comprising a magnetic arrangement that defines at least two air gaps (E, E) parallel to each other and configured to create, in each of the air gaps, a magnetic field variable about the longitudinal axis (L). Two supports (S, S) carry magnetocaloric elements () and are positioned each in the midplane (P, P) of one of the air gaps. The magnetic arrangement and the supports are in relative movement with respect to one another and positioned angularly with respect to one another about the longitudinal axis (L) so as to generate a phase shift between the magnetic cycle undergone by the magnetocaloric elements () of one of the supports (S) in one of the air gaps and the magnetic cycle undergone by the magnetocaloric elements of the other support (S) in the other air gap.

Magnetocaloric thermal apparatus

A thermal apparatus () which comprises at least one primary circuit (P) in which a heat transfer primary fluid is moved, in a reciprocating movement, by a displacement device, and at least one heat exchange interface (I, I), of the primary fluid, in which a secondary fluid that unidirectionally in a secondary circuit (S, S). A magnetocaloric thermal appliance comprising three coaxial magnetic rotors (R, R, R) rotatable about a rotational axis (R), provided with diametrally opposed magnetic poles (P), aligned with each other, and delimiting air gaps therebetween located in two parallel air gap planes (PE, PE). Two holders (S, S) for magnetocaloric elements (M, M, M, M, M) are located in the air gap planes. Magnetocaloric elements (M, M, M, M, M) are carried by the two holders (S, S) and in fluidic communication with each other by at least one heat transfer fluid that circulates in determined fluidic loops (B). Each fluidic loop (B) is arranged for connecting, two by two, magnetocaloric elements (M, M; M, M) that respectively belong to the two holders (S, S). The magnetocaloric elements connected two by two are in a same magnetic state and positioned in front of each other.

Magnetocaloric heat apparatus

A one-piece part based on a magnetocaloric material not comprising an alloy comprising iron and silicon and a lanthanide is provided. The part comprises a base in a first plane defined by a first and second direction and a set of N unitary blades secured to the base; the blades having a first dimension in the first direction, a second dimension in the second direction and a third dimension in a third direction at right angles to the first and second dimensions; an ith blade being separated from an (i+1)th blade by an ith distance; the ratio between the second dimension and first dimension being at least 10; the ratio between the third dimension and first dimension being at least 6; the first dimension being the same order of magnitude as the distance separating an ith blade from an (i+1)th blade. A thermal generator comprising one-piece parts is provided.

A magnetocaloric heat generator having an assembly of at least two magnetocaloric modules with a heat transfer fluid flowing through them. The cold ends of the modules are in fluidic communication via a cold transfer circuit and the hot ends are in fluidic communication via a hot transfer circuit. The cold transfer circuit is arranged so that the fluid exiting the cold end of one of the magnetocaloric modules with an exit temperature enters the cold end of the other magnetocaloric module with an entry temperature that is substantially equal to the temperature of the cold end. The hot transfer circuit modifies the temperature of the fluid so that the fluid exiting the hot end of one of the magnetocaloric modules with an exit temperature enters the hot end of the other magnetocaloric module with an entry temperature that is substantially equal to the temperature of the hot end.

Magnetocaloric heat generator

A magnetic field generator (G) for a magnetocaloric thermal device which comprises first (S) and second (S) identical magnetizing structures mounted head-to-tail, on either side of a central plane (P) and defining two air gaps (E, E). Each magnetizing structure (SM, S) comprises first (A) and second (A) magnetizing assemblies, whose induction vectors are oriented in opposite directions, and mounted on a support (S). Each magnetizing assembly (A, A) has a permanent magnet structure (A, A) which comprises a passive side (F, F) and an active side (F, F), delimiting the air gaps (E, E). The induction vectors of the first (A, A) and the second (A, A) magnetizing assemblies, form inside the generator, a single circulation loop of a magnetic field through the supports (S) and the air gaps (E, E, E, E).

Magnetocaloric thermal generator

A magnetocaloric thermal appliance () comprising at least one thermal module () with at least one magnetocaloric element () in contact with a heat transfer fluid and at least one magnetic arrangement () arranged so as to create a magnetic field in a gap () defined by the magnetic arrangement ().
