A wheel suspension for a motor vehicle includes a wheel linkage. The wheel linkage has a bearing region and a spring element. The wheel linkage has a first linkage arm with a first connecting element. A second linkage arm has a second connecting element. The second linkage arm has a first longitudinal region having the second connection element and a second longitudinal region attached to the first longitudinal region and disposed between the bearing region and the first longitudinal region. The second longitudinal region is offset in relation to the bearing region and the first longitudinal region downwardly in a vertical direction of the motor vehicle in an installation position of the wheel suspension.

In an independent wheel suspension including a wheel-guiding strut which is mounted on a vehicle body, a wheel carrier is so supported on the strut by several elastic pivoting bearings, that a high degree of driving comfort is provided by a controlled accommodation of lateral, longitudinal and vertical forces.

In a leaf spring suspension for a rear vehicle axle including a rigid axle body, wherein the suspension comprises leaf springs extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle at opposite sides of the vehicle and the leaf springs have front and rear end supports by way of which they are mounted to the vehicle body, the rear supports for supporting the springs on the vehicle body in a longitudinally displaceable manner are stiff in a transverse direction and the front supports are resilient in a transverse direction such that, when the vehicle is subjected to side forces, a pivot pole is established for the rear axle, which is disposed behind the center of the rear axle.

A linkage, lever and balance arm arrangement ensures a sufficient parking-hold effect on a road surface with differing nonskid properties, even in the event of failure of a portion of the braking system.
