A method and apparatus may include receiving, by a user equipment from a first access point which supports a first radio access technology, a radio-resource-control (RRC) reconfiguration message including an RRC configuration information of a second access point, after an initiation of a slave RRC at the second access point has been determined. The second access point supports a second radio access technology, and performing, by the user equipment, a random access procedure with the second access point based on the RRC reconfiguration message. The user equipment is configured to have an RRC connection with the first access point and the first access point is a master node.

Method and apparatus for implementing radio resource control of multi-connectivity

A method and apparatus may include providing, by a network node, an indication to a user equipment. The indication indicates that the network node supports interworking between a first radio-access technology and a second radio-access technology. The method may also include receiving a request to set up a service flow. The method may also include setting up the service flow.

A method and apparatus may include determining, by a network node, that a slave radio-resource-control function is to be initiated. Coordination of downlink channel assignments for communication with cluster of access points in wireless network

A method and apparatus for controlling retransmissions in multipoint reception is disclosed. In the method it is determined that additional information is needed for decoding of at least one received information block. A procedure is selected for obtaining the additional information from a plurality of options to proceed based on information about predicted result of at least one of the options. In accordance with an aspect an indication of one of a positive acknowledgement of the information block, a negative acknowledgement of the information block and suspension of retransmission of the information block is generated and communicated on a retransmission control channel.

Controlling retransmissions

There is provided a method for configuring a communication channel between a base station and a user equipment within a cellular network system. The cellular network system includes at least one cooperation area. The base station is assigned to the at least one cooperation area, and the user equipment is served by the base station. The method includes applying, by the base station, a vertical sectorization and thereby creating the at least one cooperation area, determining, by the base station, the location of the user equipment in relation to the at least one cooperation area, and configuring, by the base station, the communication channel between the base station and the user equipment by using coordinated multipoint processing, if the determined location of the user equipment corresponds to a predetermined location.
