A low beam headlight for motor vehicles has a reflector having an optical axis and a light outlet opening, a light body, a light disc covering the light outlet opening of the reflector, the reflector having an upper region and a lower region having different reflection surfaces which have different shapes and at least partially form a portion of at least approximately general paraboloid and which reflect images of the light body for forming a light distribution with a light-dark limit having a substantially horizontal portion and a portion which is inclined relative to the substantially horizontal portion at an angle .alpha., the reflector being formed so that in sections through the reflector which are perpendicular to the optical axis, section curves are produced whose eccentricity is changeable over their course so that an uppermost image of the light body which is reflected from the upper reflector region has an upper edge adjoining the horizontal uppermost of the light-dark limit and an uppermost image of the light body which is reflected from the lower reflector region has an upper edge which adjoins the inclined portion of the light-dark limit, the upper and lower regions of the reflector contacting one another in a contact plane, the eccentricity of the section curves increasing from zero in the contact plane to a maximal value in an axial plane extending perpendicular to the contact plane, the contact plane being an axial plane which is inclined relative to a horizontal plane at the half angle .alpha. of an inclination of the inclined portion of the light-dark limit and in a same direction as the inclined portion.

Low beam headlight for motor vehicles

The apparatus for control of a light-range of headlights of a motor vehicle includes two headlight orientation adjusting devices; at least one electro-optic sensor detecting actual values of light intensities of light reflected from an illuminated portion of the road; and an analyzer/control unit connected to the at least one electro-optic sensor and the adjusting devices to control the adjusting devices and the headlight orientation according to the sensor signal. To maintain the light-range of the headlights regardless of load conditions, the analyzer/control unit contains a memory device for storing data including set values of the light intensities for a desired headlight orientation and for storing other data including actual values of the reflected light intensities for actual headlight orientations when the headlights are set in the actual orientations; a comparator device for comparing the actual values for different actual orientations and the set values for the desired orientations; and a control device for controlling the adjusting devices according to the comparator device to set the headlights in various other actual orientations until the differences between the set values and actual values are minimized to determine the actual orientation closest to the desired orientation.

A headlight arrangement for vehicles, particularly for power vehicles, comprises a light source with a light reflector forming a light beam which illuminates a roadway with a predetermined light distribution, and at least one adjustable element for changing the light distribution.

Headlight arrangement for vehicles

An antidazzle headlamp has a reflector which is asymmetric relative to a horizontal plane passing through an optical axis of the reflector. The contours of the reflector corresponding to vertical sections in parallel planes forming right angles with a horizontal plane passing through the optical axis, form an upper and a lower half ellipse. Both half ellipses in each vertical section have a common large axis which is staggered upward relative to the horizontal plane. In this manner an antidazzle light beam is created which guarantees an intensive and complete illumination of edges of a roadway even at a close range from the motor vehicle.

Low beam or fog headlamp for motor vehicles

Small reference marks near two corners of a circuit chip in the form of optical gratings in which the grating lines of both reference marks are parallel are illuminated alternately by a laser beam which is projected in the location the reference marks would have if the chip is properly located. Detectors are arranged to pick up the first secondary maximum of each diffraction pattern when the chip is properly located on its carrier plate. Failure of the detectors to respond indicates a chip that must be removed. With a beam-splitting arrangement producing four closely bunched light spots, straddling each of the reference marks, and an appropriate number of detectors, directional error signals are obtainable by which mechanical correction movements can be controlled for automatic localization of the chip. The gratings may be produced at the same time as the integrated circuit as among the surface features of the chip or they may be impressed into the solder beads at the corners of the chip by which the chip is made fast to the carrier plate.

To reduce the size of the beam spot of a laser beam, a four-element lens having the characteristics set forth in the table forming part of the specification, is used, thereby providing a large-aperture objective with a field being about 2.degree., coma corrected and with low image field convexity.

To prevent spurious distortion of the image upon mechanical distortion of a cross slide upon movement of the cross slide, a slide carrier is arranged to support the objects to be compared in superposed relation; a microscope optic and deflection optics form superimposed images of the respective objects, the microscope optics including two channels which have objective planes parallel to the imaging planes for measuring the objects. In accordance with the invention, the focal length of the microscope objective in one channel is equal to one-half the distance of the superimposed corresponding elemental areas of the objects to be compared, the optic generating an image of the areas to be compared which is at, or close to infinity. A plane mirror is rigidly connected to the carrier, the mirror plane thereof extending parallel to the imaging planes, so that small rotary distortion of the carrier will not interfere with congruence of corresponding elemental areas.
