An energy store has a plurality of electrical energy storage cells, which are connected electrically in series or parallel and are combined to form an energy storage module. Cooling plates are arranged between the energy storage cells and into which coolant or refrigerant can be introduced. A plurality of emergency switching devices are provided, each of which is associated with an energy storage cell and one or two cooling plates. The emergency switching devices allow the coolant or refrigerant to flow into the associated cooling plates only if a temperature of the associated energy storage cell exceeds a defined limit temperature.

A storage module stores electrical energy. The storage module has a first storage cell and a second storage cell, each having a positive terminal and a negative terminal. The storage module includes a contact bridge, which connects one terminal of the first storage cell to one terminal of the second storage cell in an electrically conductive manner. The contact bridge is designed to reduce an electrical resistance between the electrically connected terminals of the first storage cell and of the second storage cell with rising temperature.

A method for air conditioning an electric or hybrid vehicle includes preconditioning a high voltage accumulator of the electric or hybrid vehicle. The electric or hybrid vehicle has an interior and the high voltage accumulator is air conditioned with an air-conditioning unit having a determined cooling potential. The high voltage accumulator has a current HVS temperature. The interior has a current interior temperature. During the preconditioning, the high voltage accumulator is supercooled in a preconditioning mode with the air-conditioning unit to an HVS temperature that is below an HVS operating temperature.
