An axle subassembly of a trailer of a vehicle includes a wheel bearing having an outer ring mechanically connected to a shaft and an electric drive/generator operably connected to the shaft, wherein the electric drive/generator in a first state is configured to generate electricity from a rotation of the shaft and wherein the electric drive/generator in a second state is configured to drive the shaft, and a controller configured to shift the electric drive/generator unit into the first state and into the second state.

A sealed universal joint bearing includes a pot-shaped component having a disk-shaped base and a cylindrical wall projecting from a periphery of the base, and an inner surface of the base and an inner surface of the cylindrical wall define an interior of the pot-shaped body. At least one row of rolling elements are configured to roll along the inner surface of the cylindrical wall. A flange in the interior of the pot-shaped component has a flange surface against which end sides of the rolling elements are configured to slip during bearing operation, and the flange surface includes at least one formation configured to reduce a contact area between the flange surface and the end sides of the rolling elements.

A bearing assembly is configured to rotatably support a first machine part in a second machine part and includes first and second rolling-element bearings. The rolling-element bearings are installed in the bearing assembly with an axial preload or an axial clearance. The second machine part includes a first conical abutment surface, and the first rolling-element bearing includes a bearing ring having a second conical abutment surface facing the first conical abutment surface of the second machine part. An intermediate ring is disposed between and abuts the first and second conical abutment surfaces. The bearing ring and the second machine part are metal, and the intermediate ring is formed from a material that has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the bearing ring and second machine part.

A method for manufacturing a rolling-element bearing assembly includes providing a first bearing ring, a second bearing ring and rolling-elements, rotating the first bearing ring relative to the second bearing ring and joining the first bearing ring, the second bearing ring and the rolling elements while the first bearing ring is rotating relative to the second bearing ring. The method additionally includes connecting one of the bearing rings to a bearing ring of another rolling-element bearing or to a spacer while the first bearing ring is rotating relative to the second bearing ring.

A bearing arrangement is equipped with a radial bearing and with a roller bearing which acts purely in the axial direction. Rollers of axial bearing have a needle-like, barrel-like design. Bearing rings are provided with the corresponding profiles. When axial play develops in the bearing arrangement, rollers shift radially under the effect of gravity in one case and under the effect of centrifugal force in the other with the effect of eliminating the axial play.
