The invention is directed to a heat-shrinkable envelope composed of a heat-shrinkable component and a reinforcing component that is embedded in the heat-shrinkable component and has undulations or corrugations. The reinforcing component has special arrangements for stopping tears, such as the provisions of embossments or beads, the provision of holes, punctures and slots.

The invention is directed to a method for manufacturing heat-activatable articles from a synthetic thermoplastic material on which a shape memory is impressed by introducing molecular orientations and molecular structures. These articles, after the impressing of the shape memory, are subsequently subject to a further change in shape, at least in sub-regions thereof. The shape memory is influenced by this further change in shape.

A method and apparatus forms a plastic part having a shape memory which has been formed to a second shape from an initial shape by the application of pressure to cause molecular orientations which are subsequently fixed by being cooled to a desired temperature and, when subjected to subsequent energy such as heating, will eliminate the molecular orientation and create a restoring force to return the part to the initial shape.

Method for manufacturing a plastic part having a shape memory

A heat-shrinkable envelope that is composed of a shrinkable component and a reinforcing component having a metallic matrix. The strength is increased on the basis of the metallic matrix and the ability to tear or, respectively, to continue to tear is considerably reduced. In addition, the metallic matrix forms an electrical and/or magnetic shield for components wrapped in the envelope.

A heat-shrinkable sleeve consisting of at least one heat-shrinkable component and a mechanical reinforcing component secured thereto, characterized by the reinforcing component being permanently secured to the heat-shrinkable component after completion of the heat-shrinking process. The mechanical reinforcing component, preferably, consists of a carrier foil on which mechanical reinforcing elements are arranged and the reinforcing elements are preferably arranged to extend in two directions so that tearing of the sleeve is extremely limited.
