A method for continuously producing a strip-shaped metallic workpiece may involve introducing a molten mass into a casting region, solidifying the molten mass introduced into the casting region at least partially, and conveying the at least partially solidified molten mass out of the casting region. Hollow bodies may be added to the molten mass and encapsulated into the workpiece. Further, an apparatus for continuously producing a strip-shaped metallic workpiece may include a casting region into which a molten mass can be introduced and in which the molten mass introduced can solidify at least partially. The apparatus may also include a conveying device for conveying the molten mass out of the casting region, as well as a metering apparatus for adding hollow bodies to the molten mass.

Device and method for continuously producing a metallic workpiece in strip form

A method is provided for producing a 0.8-4.5 mm thick steel strip with an amorphous, partially amorphous or fine-crystalline microstructure with grain sizes in the range of 10-10000 nm and also a flat steel product made therefrom. A molten steel is cast into a cast strip in a casting device and cooled down at an accelerated rate. Along with Fe and impurities that are unavoidable for production-related reasons, the molten material contains at least two elements belonging to the group 'Si, B, C and P'. In this case, the following applies for the contents of these elements (in % by weight) Si: 1.2-7.0%, B: 0.4-4.0%, C: 0.5-4.0%, P: 1.5-8.0%. With a corresponding composition and a microstructure with corresponding characteristics, a flat steel product according to the invention has a HV0.5 hardness of 760-900.

Method for producing a flat steel product with an amorphous, partially amorphous or fine-crystalline microstructure and flat steel product with such characteristics

Methods for producing a flat product from an iron-based shape memory alloy may involve casting a melt comprised of iron, alloying elements, and impurities into a strip having a thickness of 1-30 mm and cooling the melt as the strip is formed. A twin-roll caster may be employed to help cool and form the melt into the strip. The resultant flat product is highly resistant to bending and is robust under pressure and torsion.

Method for producing a flat product from an iron-based shape memory alloy

A cold-rolled flat steel product for deep drawing applications is disclosed, composed of a steel which, in addition to Fe and unavoidable impurities (in % by weight) contains C: &#x3c;0.1%, Al: 6.5-11%, REM: 0.02-0.2%, P: &#x3c;0.1%, S: &#x3c;0.03%, N: &#x3c;0.1% and optionally one or more elements from the group of 'Mn, Si, Nb, Ti, Mo, Cr, Zr, V, W, Co, Ni, B, Cu, Ca, N', provided that Mn: &#x3c;6%, Si: &#x3c;1%, Nb: &#x3c;0.3%, Ti: &#x3c;0.3%, Zr: &#x3c;1%, V: &#x3c;1%, V: &#x3c;1%, Mo: &#x3c;1%, Cr: &#x3c;3%, Co: &#x3c;1%, Ni: &#x3c;2%, B: &#x3c;0.1%, Cu: &#x3c;3%, Ca: &#x3c;0.015%. For production of such a flat steel product, a steel of appropriate composition is cast to give a pre-product, which is then hot-rolled to hot strip at a hot rolling end temperature of 820-1000&#xb0; C. The latter is subsequently wound at a winding temperature of up to 850&#xb0; C., after winding annealed at an annealing temperature of &#x3e;650-1200&#xb0; C. for 1-50 h, then cold-rolled in one or more stages with a total cold rolling level of &#x2265;30% to give the cold-rolled flat steel product and finally annealed at 650-850&#xb0; C.

Cold-rolled flat steel product for deep drawing applications and method for production thereof

A composite material with a ballistic protective effect having a first, outer layer made of a first steel alloy and at least one second layer which is arranged under the first layer and is made of a second steel alloy. The composite material with a ballistic protective effect allows for a reduction in the weight or the wall thicknesses of the composite material in comparison to conventional composite ballistic materials, by utilizing a first steel alloy of the first layer that has the following alloy constituents in percent by weight (% by weight): 0.06%&#x2266;C &#x2266;1.05%, 0.05%&#x2266;Si&#x2266;1.65%, 0.3%&#x2266;Mn&#x2266;2.65%, 0.015%&#x2266;Al&#x2266;1.55%; Cr&#x2266;1.2%, Ti&#x2266;0.13%, Mo&#x2266;0.7%, Nb&#x2266;0.1%, B&#x2266;0.005%, P&#x2266;0.08%, S&#x2266;0.01%, Ni&#x2266;4.0%, and V&#x2266;0.05%, the remainder being Fe and inevitable impurities. The second layer of the composite material having a higher elongation than the first layer.
