This disclosure teaches a disposable inserter which includes a housing having arranged in a displaceable configuration an inserter assembly comprising a cannula assembly with a cannula, a manually operable member for displacing the inserter assembly from a retracted position to an advanced position in order to manually insert the cannula into the skin of a patient, a locking element for blocking or enabling displacement of the inserter assembly, and a coupling arrangement for coupling the disposable inserter to a reusable inserter for automatically displacing the inserter assembly from the retracted position to the advanced position in order to automatically insert the cannula into the skin of the patient.

An insertion device including an insertion needle holder and a drive mechanism for linearly moving the insertion needle holder in a puncturing direction. The insertion needle holder also includes at least one actuating element for actuating a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism converts a driving motion of the actuating element, which extends transversely or opposite to the puncturing direction, into a puncturing motion of the insertion needle holder.

Insertion device

A puncturing system has a carrier tape carrying multiple lancets, a device housing comprising a conveying facility for moving the lancets into a usage position consecutively by moving the carrier tape in a conveying direction, a puncturing drive for accelerating one of the lancets that is positioned in the usage position in a puncturing motion, an opening in the device housing for touching against a body part in which a puncture is to be made by the puncturing motion of one of the lancets, an actuation facility for driving the conveying facility, and an unlockable interlock comprising a stop that blocks further transport of the carrier tape as soon as one of the lancets has reached the usage position.

Disclosed is a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound for obtaining a sample of a body fluid, comprising a press-on part to be pressed onto a body part in which a puncture wound is to be generated, a trigger, by the actuation of which a user can trigger a puncturing motion of a puncturing element after the press-on part is pressed on, and a testing facility for determining at least one test parameter on which a sample-obtaining probability depends. A securing facility is also provided that, in a locked state, locks the trigger such that no puncturing motion can be triggered, and, in a triggering state, releases the trigger such that a puncturing motion can be triggered by actuation thereof, whereby the securing facility is transitioned from the locked state to the triggering state by the testing facility when the test parameter determined by the testing facility meets defined minimum requirements. A signaling facility is also provided for signaling a transition of the securing facility to the triggering state and/or for signaling that the securing facility is in the triggering state. Also disclosed is a method for preparing a puncturing system for generating a puncture wound.

Puncturing system

An insertion device includes an insertion needle holder and a drive mechanism for linearly moving the insertion needle holder in a puncturing direction. The insertion needle holder also includes at least one actuating element for actuating a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism converts a driving motion of the actuating element, which extends transversely or opposite to the puncturing direction, into a puncturing motion of the insertion needle holder.

A disposable device for analyzing body fluid especially for blood sugar tests includes a container which can be inserted into a measuring apparatus, a sampling member provided in the container to pierce skin of a body part and sample body fluid, and a test member for receiving body fluid obtained by the skin-piercing. In one form, the test member is fixed in a retaining chamber of the container, and the sampling member is configured in the same retaining chamber such that it is separated at a distance from the test member in an initial state and is in contact with the test member to transfer body fluid in a transfer state after the skin-piercing.

Body fluid lancing, acquiring, and testing cartridge design

Instrument for producing a sample of body liquid for analysis by piercing the skin with a lancing element having a skin piercing tip. The instrument has a housing and a lancing drive for driving a lancing element connected thereto in a puncturing movement. A pressure ring surrounds a skin contact opening and is adapted for pressing against the skin such that the skin bulges into the opening for promoting expression of body fluid. The skin contact opening has an opening area corresponding to a circle with a diameter of at least 3 mm and at most 8 mm, and the instrument comprises a pressing force control device for controlling the pressing force between the pressure ring and the skin at the time of triggering the puncturing movement, to be at least 3 N and at most 8 N.

Instruments and system for producing a sample of a body fluid and for analysis thereof

The invention relates to a lancet having a flat shaft () which has an upper side () and a lower side (), the shaft () forming at a front end () a cutter () which ends in a point (), the cutter () having on the underside () two cutting edges (), which run together at the point (), and the shaft () having at least one depression () on its underside () to receive a sample. The invention provides for the shaft, on its upper side (), to merge into the cutter () at two edges () which run together at a vertex (), and for the upper side () of the cutter () between the vertex () and the front end () to be curved convexly, as seen in cross section.

Lancet

The present invention relates to a lancet device, by which a lancet can be displaced along a piercing path for generating a piercing wound in a skin surface, in particular to obtain bodily fluid for diagnostic purposes, comprising a lancet drive having drive means to generate a drive force for a piercing movement of the lancet along the piercing path in the direction toward the skin surface. According to the present invention, the lancet drive comprises a magnet, by which a magnetic retention force oriented opposite to the drive force may be generated, and the lancet drive also comprises triggering means, by which the retention force may be reduced enough that the lancet is accelerated in the direction toward the skin surface under the effect of the drive force generated by the drive means. The present invention also relates to a method for generating a piercing wound, in which the drive spring is held in a tensioned state using a magnetic retention force oriented opposite to the drive force before the triggering of a piercing wound.

Lancet device

A device is disclosed for obtaining body fluid, in particular blood, comprising a lancing element having a tip for puncturing the skin of a body part and an actuator coupled with the lancing element for a forward and backward movement of the lancing element, where the lancing element can be inserted into the skin up to an optionally adjustable puncture position. The actuator is adapted to drive the lancing element forwardly to a penetration speed of at most 0.7 m/s when the lancing element penetrates the skin.

Device and method for obtaining body fluid

The invention relates to a lancet, comprising a base body (), which has a test region () on an upper face for analyzing a body fluid sample, a lancing element () extending from the base body () for puncturing the skin of a patient, and a capillary structure () for transporting a body fluid sample from the lancing element () to the test region (). According to the invention, the capillary structure () comprises a section that causes fluid to be transported in a direction that, in a top view of the upper face of the base body (), has a component perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the lancing element ().

The invention is related to a lancet wheel () having a plurality of lancets () in a ring-shaped arrangement, the lancets () comprising a lancet body () that ends in a lancet tip (). A lancet wheel () according to the invention has a carrier () that carries the lancets (), whereby the lancets () are connected to the carrier () via bars () that allow for mobility of the lancets () relative to the carrier ().

The present invention provides an integrated measuring device that includes a blood collection system for collecting blood for diagnostic purposes. The blood collection system comprises an electric motor which provides energy for propelling a lancet. The blood collection system comprises a mechanical energy store in which the electric energy that is converted by the motor is stored in the form of mechanical energy. The use of a mechanical energy store allows the use of known mechanical drive elements. The blood collection system can also be electrically activated and is thus easy to use for the operator. The motor can also be coupled to another system component, such as a test strip or lancet drum, to operate it.
