A method of installing a heat shrink cover around a component includes providing the heat shrink cover having an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve, the inner sleeve is a heat shrink sleeve, and attaching an electrical heating system to an outer surface of the outer sleeve. The inner sleeve and the outer sleeve are arranged around the component, with the outer sleeve at least partially encompassing the inner sleeve. The electrical heating system is energized to heat-recover the inner sleeve.

A tool system for mounting an elastic sleeve includes a holdout tube supporting the elastic sleeve prior to and during mounting, the holdout tube having a longitudinal axis, an interface element movable along the longitudinal axis and transferring pressure onto the elastic sleeve to push the elastic sleeve off the holdout tube during mounting, and an actuation lever engaging the holdout tube at a fulcrum region of the actuation lever. The actuation lever has a pair of load arms partly encompassing the holdout tube. A load region is arranged at a peripheral end of each of the load arms. The actuation lever actuates the interface element by pressing the load regions of the actuation lever against the interface element.

A heating system for heating a heat shrink layer of a heat shrink component during a heat shrink process includes a heating unit arranged in thermal contact with at least a part of the heat shrink layer and heating the heat shrink layer to a heat shrink temperature. The first heating zone has a different heating energy than the second heating zone for a period of time of the heat shrink process.

The heat shrink component has a first dimension in an expanded state and a second dimension in a shrunk state after heating. The first dimension is larger than the second dimension.

A support coil for radially supporting an elastically expanded tube material includes an extruded profile body consisting of a plurality of windings wound about a longitudinal axis of the support coil. Each of the windings has opposing end faces. A ratchet arrangement joins the end faces of the adjacent windings with respect to the longitudinal axis of the support coil. A tongue and groove arrangement joins the end faces of the adjacent windings with respect to a radial direction of the support coil. The tongue and groove arrangement is spatially separated from the ratchet arrangement.
