A system for selecting coil voltage in an electrical device comprises a housing and a coil in the housing having a plurality of windings. Each winding has a pair of pins. A slider supports a plurality of moveable contacts and is moveably mounted in the housing proximate the coil so that the plurality of moveable contacts selectively make or break electrical contact between the winding pins to select coil voltage.

An electrical switching system comprises a main housing enclosing an actuable apparatus including an actuator extending outwardly of the housing. A contact housing encloses an electrical contact and a pusher selectively actuable by the actuator to operate the contact. A mortise is provided on one of the main housing and contact housing and a tenon is provided on the other of the main housing and contact housing for joining the contact housing to the main housing. A snap lock resiliently locks the contact housing to the main housing.

First and second longitudinally spaced bottom ribs are in an inside of the bottom wall proximate the respective first and second side walls and laterally offset from the respective first and second top ribs. A movable contact is received in the opening. A contact spring is captured between the top rib and the bottom rib at either the first or the second end of the opening to bias the movable contact against the top rib and the bottom rib at the other of the first end and second end of the opening.

A contact assembly for use in an electrical apparatus includes an armature comprising a base and a post having first and second ends. The first end is connected to the base and the second end comprises intersecting cross members defining four quadrants and a body extending between the cross members in one of the four quadrants. A moveable contact is received on the post. The moveable contact comprises an elongate bar having contact pads at opposite ends of one face and a central opening. The central opening comprises intersecting slots defining four quadrants and a void extending between the slots in one of the four quadrants. The central opening is slightly larger than the post second end so that the moveable contact is mounted to the post with the contact pads facing in a desired direction.

Semi-bifurcated electrical contacts

Simplicity and reliability in a trip mechanism for an overload relay is achieved in a construction including a housing containing a bistable armature mounted on a pivot for movement between two stable positions. Fixed contacts are located within the housing and moveable contacts are carried by the armature for movement to a closed position with the fixed contacts for one of the two stable positions and for movement to an open position relative to the fixed contacts for the other of the two stable positions. A latch arm is carried by the armature and has a latch surface thereon. A torsion spring is mounted on the housing and has a latch finger for engaging the latch surface and retaining the armature in one of the two positions. A push button is provided for disabling the latch finger.
