For the creation of a magnetic resonance (MR) image of a predetermined volume section of an object of investigation, MR data of the volume section are collected along radial trajectories, and each trajectory is assigned a readout direction in which the MR data are collected along the respective trajectory. The MR image is reconstructed on the basis of the collected MR data. In the reconstruction, only MR data are taken into consideration that were collected along trajectories with a readout direction restricted to the field of a solid angle that is defined by a partial surface of a sphere. The partial surface (A) at most corresponds to 75% of the total surface of the sphere.

A method of attenuation correction for a positron emission tomography (PET) system includes obtaining PET scan data representative of a volume scanned by the PET system, obtaining a plurality of magnetic resonance (MR) scan data sets representative of the volume, each MR scan data set being acquired in a respective time period during acquisition of the PET scan data by the PET system, detecting motion of the volume that occurred during the acquisition of the PET scan data based on an assessment of the plurality of MR scan data sets, the PET scan data, or the plurality of MR scan data sets and the PET scan data, determining attenuation correction data from the plurality of MR scan data sets based on the detected motion for alignment of the attenuation correction data and the PET scan data, and correcting the PET scan data with the attenuation correction data.

In a method for frequency calibration in a magnetic resonance system in a volume section containing an unknown number of determined substances, the predetermined volume section is excited with RF pulses and subsequent echo signals are recorded at different times and spectral information is determined for each of the echo signals, from which a peak value in the spectral information and an associated relaxation time are determined. Dependent on the relaxation time, a substance is determined for each peak value. A frequency adjustment substance dependent of the magnetic resonance system is then implemented. Multiple peak values in the spectral information of the echo signals can be determined.

A breast coil arrangement for magnetic resonance applications has a placement web that allows an examination subject to lie with her sternum on the placement web with each breast in a receptacle respectively on opposite sides of the placement web. The breast receptacles have limiting elements whose spacing from one another can be adjusted. Multiple array coils are respectively arranged in the limiting elements and are stationary relative to the limiting elements. Each breast receptacle is surrounded by a volume coil that is stationary relative to the placement web. The volume coils are arranged centrally and orthogonally relative to the array coils and surround the array coils. The volume coils are decoupled from the array coils. A spectroscopy phantom can be arranged in proximity to the placement web.

A first intermediate result is determined that indicates whether the pixel represents water-dominated tissue or fat-dominated tissue on the basis of first magnetic resonance signals. A second intermediate result is determined that indicates whether the pixel represents the silicon-dominated substance on the basis of second magnetic resonance signals. The pixel is designated as representing water-dominated tissue, fat-dominated tissue or the silicon-dominated substance on the basis of the first intermediate result and the second intermediate result.

In a magnetic resonance method and apparatus for acquisition of measurement data from a subject, k-space to be scanned into an inner region and an outer region, and the inner region is divided into inner segments that differ in terms of their distance from a k-space center and the outer region is divided into outer segments that differ in terms of their distance from a k-space center. First k-space data are acquired for the inner region, wherein k-space lines of the inner region are divided into first groups such that k-space lines from different inner segments are associated in each of the first groups, and the first groups are successively scanned. Second k-space data are acquired for the outer region, wherein k-space lines of the outer region are divided into second groups such that k-space lines from different outer segments are associated in each of the second groups, and the second groups are successively scanned.
