A coupling for pipe-in-pipe pipeline tubing formed of an assembly of sections each incorporating an inner pipe and an outer pipe butt-welded to the inner pipe, two successive sections being joined together by the welding of respective inner pipes delimiting a segment of inner pipe. The invention relates to a segment of pipe-in-pipe pipeline comprising an annulus under reduced pressure sealed and delimited by a metallic internal pipe inserted into a metallic external pipe and provided with a measurement system to determine in a non-intrusive manner the state of the annulus, the measurement system being composed of a first internal emitter/receiver assembly placed inside the annulus and cooperating with means to measure a first physical quantity such as pressure, hygrometry or temperature inside the reduced pressure annulus and a second external emitter/receiver assembly arranged to the exterior of the segment and facing said first assembly.

A reelable connection between facing ends of opposed pipe-in-pipe sections in which an end wall connects inner and outer pipes of each section to seal an end of an annular space defined between those pipes is disclosed. In each section, the inner pipe protrudes beyond the end wall and the outer pipe and is joined to an inner pipe of the opposed section, leaving opposed ends of the outer pipes of those sections spaced from each other. An insert positioned between the opposed ends of the outer pipes maintains the outer pipe diameter from one section to the other section across the connection.

The invention concerns a process and a device for laying a subsea pipeline according to the J-lay or S-lay method wherein straight sections are mounted onshore, dried and degassed then closed by plugs. The sections are loaded on a pipe-laying ship, are separated from their plugs before the welding. At the welding of each bulkhead a short pumping is operated to reduce the pressure in the part of the annulus located between the two last bulkheads and then the opening leading to the annulus are sealed.
