An optically variable security element has a motif region including a plurality of differently oriented first facets and a plurality of differently oriented second facets arranged in the motif region. Each of the first and second facets defines a normal vector having a first orientation component and a second orientation component. The color impression of the at least one motif is determined by the first orientation components. The representation of the at least one motif is defined by the second orientation components. The first orientation components of the first facets and the second facets are different from one another.

Optically variable security element and value document with the optically variable security element

A security element for a security paper, value document or the like, having a carrier which has a motif region that includes a visually perceptible motif with a first and a second motif part, wherein the motif region includes a first micro-optic representation arrangement which presents at least two different images in viewing angle-dependent fashion as a first motif part, and a second micro-optic representation arrangement which presents a reflective surface as a second motif part, which surface appears bulged relative to the actual macroscopic spatial form of the second micro-optic representation arrangement.

Security element as well as value document having such a security element

An optically variable security element is provided for protecting objects of value. The reflective area region includes two independent relief structures, which are arranged at different levels in the z-direction and form a lower-level relief structure and a higher-level relief structure. The higher-level relief structure is supplied with a first reflection-enhancing coating following the relief profile, and the lower-level relief structure is supplied with a second reflection-enhancing coating following the relief profile. The first reflection-enhancing coating is formed in the visible spectral range with a reflection and transmission in the visible spectral range, so that the higher-level relief structure shows a first optically variable effect in a first color, and the lower-level relief structure shows a second optically variable effect through the first reflection-enhancing coating, wherein the second optically variable effect shows itself in a second, different color.

Optically variable security element

An optically variable security element has a motif region. A plurality of differently oriented facets are arranged in the motif region. A pattern includes visible pattern elements is visible in the motif region to a viewer at least at a first viewing angle. The visible pattern elements are designed differently to portray a motif to the viewer. The motif is a three-dimensional motif. The pattern elements are designed differently such that they portray a perspective of the three-dimensional motif to the viewer.

It is disclosed a security element comprising a substantially flat substrate including first and second areas, wherein the first area displays a first motif and generates a first color movement effect to be seen in the first motif while the substrate gets tilted over a first angular tilting range, the second area displays a second motif and generates a second color effect to be seen in the second motif and within a second angular tilting range, the first and second angular tilting ranges are different, and the first area comprises either a micro-mirror structure or a print of magnetically oriented pigments and the second area comprises the other one of the micro-mirror structure and the print of magnetically oriented pigments.

A method for producing pigments having a specified contour, comprises the steps of creating a pigment layer on a starting substrate; detaching from the starting substrate; and structuring the pigment layer into a plurality of the pigments; characterized by bringing into contact the pigment layer with an intermediate substrate, wherein the pigment layer adheres at least in sections to the intermediate substrate; and separating intermediate substrate and starting substrate.

An optically variable security element has a multicolored, reflective areal region including a first relief structure disposed at a higher level than a second relief structure. The first relief structure has a first ink coating and the second relief structure has a second, different ink coating. The two relief structures overlap in an overlap region. The first ink coating of the first relief structure is disposed at a higher level in the overlap region and has at least one recess the dimension of which is more than 140 &#x3bc;m. The first ink coating comprises an edge region adjoining the recess, and as a bicolor register feature the first relief structure lets the edge region of the first ink coating appear with a first color impression and the second relief structure through the recess lets the second ink coating appear with a second, different color impression in mutual register.

Optically variable security element having reflective surface region

An optically variable security element wherein the areal expansion whereof defines a z direction standing perpendicularly thereon, and has a multicolored, reflective areal region. The areal region includes two relief structures arranged at different height levels in the z direction. The relief structures are each supplied with an ink coating which produce a different color impression. The ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a higher level is configured in the feature region as a regular or irregular grid with grid elements and grid spaces. The dimensions of the grid elements and/or grid spaces are below 140 &#x3bc;m at least in one direction, so that, in the feature region, for a viewer from at least one viewing angle, the ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a lower level is visible through the grid spaces of the ink coating of the relief structure disposed at a higher level.

A lens pigment suitable for manufacturing value documents by printing technology, includes a carrier substrate which forms a lens base and which is supplied on its front side with a first plastic having at least one elevation that produces a microlens and with a second plastic leveling the first plastic.

Lens pigment, method for producing the same, valuable document and printing ink

A method for manufacturing a value document includes: providing a value document substrate; printing the value document substrate with magnetically orientable effect pigments which are dispersed in a UV-curable lacquer; the step of exposing the lacquer containing the magnetically orientable effect pigments to a dynamic magnetic field; the step of irradiating the lacquer containing the effect pigments with UV radiation; and optionally the step of embossing the cured or at least partially cured UV lacquer.

Method for manufacturing a value document, value document and printing device

The present invention relates to an optically variable security element for securing valuable articles, having a substrate having opposing first and second main surfaces and, arranged on the first main surface, an optically variable pattern that comprises an embossing pattern and a coating. The coating comprises at least one imprinted line grid and a background layer that contrasts with the line grid. The embossing pattern comprises a two-dimensional grid of elevated and/or depressed embossing elements. Both are combined in such a way that substantially on every embossing element lies at least one line segment of a line in the line grid, and at least one of the parameters position of the line segment on the embossing element, orientation of the line segment on the embossing element and form of the line segment varies location dependently across the dimension of the optically variable pattern. Due to the line grid, a movement effect, especially a pump or rotation effect, is created when the security element is tilted.

A flat security element has a main plane and microreflector arranged in a microreflector pattern and present at least one motif that, when the security element is tilted, has a motif effect that relates to the main plane. The microreflector pattern causes a first and a second motif effect, wherein the first motif effect occurs during a tilting movement about a primary axis, if the security element is at the same time oriented within a first tilting angle range about a secondary axis, and the second motif effect occurs during the tilting movement about the primary axis, if the security element is at the same time oriented within a second tilting angle range about the secondary axis.

Security element comprising microreflectors

An optically variable security arrangement for securing valuable articles, comprises a first sub-element having a two-dimensional relief grid composed of a plurality of grid elements and that has, in at least one spatial direction R, a first line screen p below 500 &#x3bc;m, and in which the grid elements are each formed from at least two relief elements that are directionally reflective in different directions, and a second sub-element having at least one dot and/or line grid that, in a spatial direction R, has a second line screen q. A movement effect is created by the interplay of the relief grid and the dot and/or line grid when the security arrangement is tilted.

Optically variable security arrangement

A security element for securing security papers, value documents and other data carriers, having a lenticular image that, from different viewing directions, displays at least two different appearances. The lenticular image includes a lens grid composed of a plurality of microlenses and a radiation-sensitive motif layer arranged spaced apart from the lens grid. The radiation-sensitive motif layer includes, produced by the action of radiation, a plurality of transparency regions that are each arranged in perfect register with the microlenses of the lens grid. Outside the transparency regions produced by the action of radiation, the radiation-sensitive motif layer is opaque and patterned in the form of a first motif such that, when the security element is viewed through the lens grid from a first viewing direction, the first motif is visible as the first appearance.

Security element having a lenticular image

A method includes using a lenticular image having a lens grid composed of a plurality of microlenses and a metallic motif layer arranged spaced apart from the lens grid; the refractive effect of the microlenses defines a focal plane and the metallic motif layer being arranged substantially in the focal plane; a line width is chosen for the demetalized sub-regions to be produced in the metallic motif layer; a marking laser source having a laser wavelength &#x3bb; is selected such that the resolving power D(&#x3bb;) of the microlenses of the lenticular image at the selected laser wavelength &#x3bb; substantially corresponds to the line width of the demetalized sub-regions to be produced; and the metallic motif layer is impinged on through the microlenses with laser radiation of the marking laser source to produce demetalized sub-regions in the metallic motif layer.
