Systems and methods are described for using a combination of high-resolution, optical-sectioning imaging modalities to provide quantitative measures of the distribution of a contrast agent in tissue samples by identifying its cellular distribution. In some instances, the systems and methods may be used in an intraoperative setting to guide a biopsy or surgical procedure.

Imaging system for detection of intraoperative contrast agents in tissue

A system is presented for analyzing and interpreting histologic images. The system includes an imaging device and a diagnostic module. The imaging device captures an image of a tissue sample at an optical section of the tissue sample, where the tissue sample has a thickness larger than the optical section. The system may further include an image interpretation subsystem located remotely from the imaging device and configured to receive the images from the imaging device. The diagnostic module is configured to receive the images for the tissue sample from the imaging device and generates a diagnosis for the tissue sample by applying a machine learning algorithm to the images. The diagnostic module may be interface directly with the imaging device or located remotely at the image interpretation subsystem.

Systems and methods for analysis and remote interpretation of optical histologic images

Devices and systems for analyzing biological samples are provided. Devices include a hollow body extending from a first end to a second end. The body defines a sample collecting portion. A first opening at the first end of the body is operable to receive a source of negative pressure and a second opening at the second end of the body is operable to receive a biological sample. The body also includes an optically transparent region disposed in a region corresponding to the sample collecting portion, the optically transparent region being configured to transmit electromagnetic radiation therethrough from an imaging device capable of imaging the biological sample when disposed in the sample collecting portion.
