Embodiments are disclosed that relate to color identification. In one example, an image processing method comprises receiving an infrared (IR) image including a plurality of IR pixels, each IR pixel specifying one or more IR parameters of that IR pixel, identifying, in the IR image, IR-skin pixels that image human skin, identifying a skin tone of identified human skin based at least in part on the IR-skin pixels, the skin tone having one or more expected visible light (VL) parameters, receiving a VL image including a plurality of VL pixels, each VL pixel specifying one or more VL parameters of that VL pixel, identifying, in the VL image, VL-skin pixels that image identified human skin, and adjusting the VL image to increase a correspondence between the one or more VL parameters of the VL-skin pixels and the one or more expected VL parameters of the identified skin tone.

Color identification using infrared imaging

A computing environment containing a mesh network that is adapted to provide a reliable transport mechanism over which services may be delivered. Nodes of the mesh can automatically select routable addresses without conflicts, which allows nodes of the mesh to be accessed, even as the mesh changes through the addition or deletion of nodes. Also, nodes communicate with a protocol that supports service advertisements. These advertisements can identify mesh nodes that supply services, such as file or print servers, for which devices that have not yet connected to the network may be searching. Advertisements can also identify services to be used by nodes in the network, allowing, for example, a node to select a gateway providing a reliable connection to an external network. The mesh network can be used as a transport for communication using protocols, such as TCP/IP, that generally exhibit poor performance when using unreliable transports.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for device discovery, pairing, and transmission of audio and video media, using two or more communication paths between a media sender/source node and a media receiver/sink node. In one example of the disclosed technology, a method performed with a sink node adapted to receive data via a peer-to-peer communication and a different, second communication path, includes selecting at least a portion of a second communication path to the sink node, determining whether the second communication path is secure, and, if the second communication path is determined to be secure, then accepting connections via the second communication path.

Discovering and protecting data streams in multi-path communication environments

A computing device operating according to a frequency division multiplexed protocol in which communication occurs over a signal formed from a plurality of sub-channels selected from anywhere in a frequency spectrum. A computing device may select sub-channels cognitively by using information about sub-channels previously deemed suitable or unsuitable by that computing device or other computing devices. A described technique for determining sub-channel suitability includes analyzing radio frequency energy in the sub-channel to detect signals generated by another computing device or high noise levels. Information may also be used to cognitively select sub-channels to be analyzed, such as by first selecting for analysis previously-used sub-channels.

Cognitive multi-user OFDMA

The systems and methods generate geometric proxies for participants in an online communication session, where each geometric proxy is a geometric representation of a participant and each geometric proxy is generated from acquired depth information and is associated with a particular virtual box. The systems and methods also include generating a scene geometry that visually simulates an in-person meeting of the participants where the scene geometry includes the geometric proxies, and the virtual boxes of the geometric proxies are aligned within the scene geometry based on a number of the participants and a reference object to which the virtual boxes are aligned. In addition, the systems and methods cause a display of the scene geometry with the geometric proxies, where the display of a particular geometric proxy includes a video of the participant corresponding to the particular geometric painted onto the particular geometric proxy.

Virtual viewpoint for a participant in an online communication

The electronic devices described herein are configured to enhance user experience associated with a network connection when transitioning the network connection between access points. Determinations to scan for available access points and transfer the network connection to an alternative access point are based on connection attributes and/or access point attributes that are compared to scan criteria and transfer criteria. Further, the scan criteria and transfer criteria are updated, or adjusted, according to machine learning techniques such that the determinations to scan for access points and transfer between access points are tuned on a per-device and/or per-user level to fit patterns of use of a particular device and/or user. Over time, the updates to the scan criteria and transfer criteria based on machine learning provide an increasingly consistent, high quality user experience while roaming efficiently between access points.

Roaming between network access points based on dynamic criteria

Implementations provide an in-person communication experience by generating a changable virtual viewpoint for a participant in an online communication. For instance, techniques described herein capture visual data about participants in an online communication, and create a realistic geometric proxy from the visual data. A virtual scene geometry is generated that mimics an arrangement of an in-person meeting for the online communication. According to various implementations, a virtual viewpoint displays a changing virtual viewpoint, such as based on a change in position of a participants face.

The technologies disclosed herein provide improvements to the Low Extra Delay Background Transport (LEDBAT) protocol. Some aspects of the present disclosure introduce an adaptive congestion window gain for background connections. In some configurations, a gain value for influencing the transmission rate of a background connection is dynamically adjusted based on data indicating a round trip time (RTT). The RTT includes a sum of a time in which the data is communicated to a remote device and a time in which acknowledgement is data returned from the remote device. In some configurations, the gain is decreased when the RTT is below a threshold and the gain is increased when the RTT is above the threshold. Among other features, the present disclosure also provides techniques involving a modified slow-start, multiplicative decrease and periodic slowdowns. The features disclosed herein mitigate some existing issues, such as latency drift, inter-LEDBAT fairness, and unnecessary slowdowns.
