A kitchen apparatus, comprising a food preparation chamber, is provided. The kitchen apparatus also includes a first housing portion and a second housing portion movable relative to each other to enable the food preparation chamber to be opened and closed. At least part of a channel for receiving at least one wire, e.g. wire(s) connected to a food monitoring sensor, is located at an interface between the first housing portion and the second housing portion so as to permit routing of the at least one wire received in the channel into the food preparation chamber.

A cooking device is for cooking food on a support (e.g. in a basket) within a cooking chamber. A required cooking time is determined based only on the time-evolution of the cooking chamber temperature and a power of the heating device. A first, less accurate, estimate of the required cooking time is determined within a first period, e.g. 90 seconds, of the turning on of the heating device and a second, more accurate, estimate of the required cooking is determined later, but e.g. within five minutes of the turning on of the heating device.

A device for use in a blender comprises a rotatably arranged tool () for moving through food to be processed by means of the blender, and a tool cage () for partially covering the tool (). The tool cage () is shaped like a hollow cylinder having a longitudinal axis and an inner surface () with exclusively non-convex areas, wherein a cross-sectional shape of the tool cage () deviates from a circular shape and has at least one protruding area which is outside of an imaginary circle being centrally positioned about the longitudinal axis and touching the inner surface () while having a minimum radius. The inner surface () of the tool cage () may have a triangular shape or a square shape about the longitudinal axis. A dimensionless characteristic value and a range for the value are defined for predicting quality of performance of the device.
