The present invention relates to expression cassettes comprising at least one transcription regulating nucleotide sequence obtainable from the group of genes of monocotyle-donous plants consisting of caffeoyl-CoA-O-methyltransferase genes, C8,7-sterol isomerase genes, hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein (HRGP) genes, lactate dehydrogenase genes, and chloroplast protein 12 like genes. More preferably the transcription regulating sequences are obtainable fromor. The transcription regulating sequences are especially useful for root/kernel-preferential, leaf/endosperm-preferential, root/silk/kernel-preferential, or constitutive expression.

Expression cassettes for regulation of expression in monocotyledonous plants

The invention relates to methods for the identification and use of introns with gene expression enhancing properties. The teaching of this invention enables the identification of introns causing intron-mediated enhancement (IME) of gene expression. The invention furthermore relates to recombinant expression construct and vectors comprising said IME-introns operably linked with a promoter sequence and a nucleic acid sequence. The present invention also relates to transgenic plants and plant cells transformed with these recombinant expression constructs or vectors, to cultures, parts or propagation material derived there from, and to the use of same for the preparation of foodstuffs, animal feeds, seed, pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals, to improve plant biomass, yield, or provide desirable phenotypes.

Expression enhancing intron sequences

The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for increasing plant yield relative to suitable control plants. More specifically, the present invention concerns a method for increasing plant yield comprising increasing expression in a plant of a nucleic acid encoding a Dof (DNA-binding with one finger) domain transcription factor polypeptide. The present invention also concerns plants having increased expression of a nucleic acid encoding a Dof domain transcription factor polypeptide, which plants have increased yield relative to suitable control plants. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention.

Plants having improved growth characteristics and methods for making the same

The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for improving plant growth characteristics. More specifically, the present invention concerns a method for improving plant growth characteristics by modulating expression in a plant of a plant nucleic acid encoding a cyclin dependent kinase (CDK) and/or by modulating activity in a plant of a plant CDK protein, which CDK protein comprises different motifs or which CDK nucleic acid encodes such protein. The present invention also concerns plants having modulated expression of a plant CDK nucleic acid and/or modulated activity of a plant CDK protein, which CDK protein comprises different sequence motifs or which nucleic acid encodes such protein and which plants have improved growth characteristics relative to corresponding wild type plants. The invention additionally relates to specific nucleic acid sequences encoding for the aforementioned proteins having the aforementioned plant growth improving activity, nucleic acid constructs, vectors and plants containing said nucleic acid sequences.
